According to ASK MINI, my Coupe is in the body shop with a completion date of 10/17.

Nice shot of your LB/S, Bill. You captured the silver color quite well . And since the photo doesn't really show it's stripes......it looks exactly like mine! Aren't you crazy about the colors and the combo?

 

It really is a handsome color combo. I have a feeling LB/S will be one of the more popular combos as time goes on, so I'm already looking into unique ways to "you-ify" mine so it can be picked out of a lineup of LB/S Coupés.

 

Good to see several of you moving along. Sorry I have been either driving or extremely busy at work. Things have slowed down now that the week is almost over. Going out to take some fall color picks tomorrow morning. Corn fields, cottonwoods and punk'ns. You ever have one of those months that everything goes right for you? Aim having one of those months.

Just got a call from my MA.

Picking up my car on the 22nd.

They are having a mini motortober event so my car will hang out with everyone during the event and then I'll take her home.

Maybe I can get in on the $750 off they are offering to all the people at the event. That'd be awesome.

I think you should be able to. One of my local dealers is having an event on the 22nd too and are advertising the $750 off. I asked if that applies to orders or just in stock cars and they told me it would apply to orders. I think you just have to take delivery before a certain time because he told me as long as I order on or before the 22nd I would be able to get it in time. I will know more tomorrow about all of that though.

Is the discount for all Coupe models or are some excluded?

LOL Bob. You are correct, I am doing just fine here in Alabama. I was on track Wednesday and Barber is quite the track! Did four sessions, first just trying to learn the track. Had the turn sequence and line down in second session and started picking up the pace. Midday got a really bad headache so wasn't on my game for the last two sessions, but did pick up speed and got more consistent as day went on. Really wish I had felt better. But I can't complain much about it since it was a day at Barber!

I think it is on every car they are selling including the coupe. I talked to my MA again and he said as long as I attend the MotorTober event he can give it to me since I am technically getting my car after the event. You should try it out.

 

I got an email from MINI USA with a link to the website where you find your local dealer's Motor-tober event. It listed every model including John Cooper Works.

Some interesting things I discovered today during my visit to the dealer...

In order to get the $750 off you need to attend one of these Motor-tober events and pick up a certificate that is good for $750 off. So I apparently have to go back next week to pick one up. Which is kind of a PITA since this particular dealer isn't right down the street. I don't know why they can't just stick one in my file.

Laguna Green is supposed to be $1000, it is listed in the dealer ordering system as $1000, but it is still in the configurator as $500. So, the dealer offered to honor the price that the configurator showed without my even asking. However, during the order process we discovered that sport stripes are not available with the Laguna Green color choice. Neither silver nor black stripes can be factory ordered. There was some sort of recent bulletin from MINI to their dealers that mentions this. It's some sort of "Ask Vinny" question whatever that means. They showed it to me on the manager's computer. No explanation with respect to why this is the case. We guessed it had something to do with the LG roof stripes. So, they are going to add the hood and boot black stripes at the dealer...for $500. Which had the effect of me paying $1000 for LG after all. I wasn't thrilled about it, but going in I planned to offer to split the difference on the paint color anyway so it was a wash.

Sorry to bear that bad news Gloomchen. But you may want to contact your dealer.

They had one car (a Countryman) on the lot with MINI Connected installed so I got to see it in action. It is pretty freakin' cool. It has voice commands as well for setting the radio and other functions. You can plug a USB stick with MP3s into it. Or connect an ipod or iphone of course. My MA says they are working on Android and Blackberry connectivity. But even with just the Bluetooth it apparently will do quite a bit with your phone like downloading all of your contacts and so forth. I was really impressed...but I MUCH prefer the look of the video screen to the speedo anyway. So I sprang for the technology package.

Oh I do not like that at all. It may be better in the long run to prevent highway patrol attention, but this does make a sad face.

I'll wait for the dealer to contact me about it though. I want to see what kind of leverage I can get out of the situation.

Any mention from your dealer about the whole "no LG on coupes until November" thing?

 

I didn't ask about that. I did see him scroll by another bulletin that looked like it said something about LG not being time limited. But they didn't say. I am going to be out of the country for a month anyway from mid-Nov to mid-Dec so ultimately it's not a big deal to me if they don't build it until Nov. I am guessing my place in line wouldn't be built until then anyway

cool. I just checked in at the Owner's Lounge and the info says Chili Red so I guess that means they gave me a slot that was already assigned to inventory. I suppose it will be updated in a couple of days.
