More details, please. It looks like it doesn't have a hood scoop, so it must be a Justa Coupe, right? How was the drive compared to your regular Justa?

Yes it is Justacoupe. They did not have any others available for driving. Regardless, because mine is a Justa, it was still a lot of fun. They let me take it without a salesperson so I was able to have some fun with it! Handles so well since all that weight on the rear was taken off, you get no sway at all on the back end. Same motor as any r56. So its great! post more later!

From what I've heard, the drive isn't noticably different than a hardtop Cooper, even with the extra weight removed from the back.

Noticeably... Yes. Maybe what you heard wasn't hard driving. I'm talking about feisty GA roads. I mean. Front end no. But no rear end play.

Cool. I'm getting just one more mod for my R50 (coilovers.) and if I still feel like I need "something" more, i'm saving for a JCW coupe Waiting for my dealer to get some variant in for test drives.

How was the interior? Visibility? Room? How tall are you? etc etc.

You should listen to White Roof Radio this week.

They said it drives like a dream and feels different from the others.

A lot of people have test driven the R58 in the R58 Forum here at NAM. Stop on by :P S's and JCW's

The coupe is actually 50lb heavier from what I have read.

Interior is a little different. Of course no paddles for automatic. Everything on the wheel is black as well. The the volume and selector buttons are right next to each other. Rather than having the volume button below. I'm not sure if that's anything new. But it is compared to my 07'. It's only a 2 seater. But has plenty or boot space. I could easily fit a few guitars in. So let's talk about space. I'm a stout guy, at 5'6" so I had no trouble with space. But the ceiling does have indentions for those with more height. The windshield is now more slanted. And still as much space in the cockpit. Even if the coupe is heavier, the weight is certainly in a different place, rather than the top and rear, the highest point on the car is a few inches lower than a Hatch.

Everything I have read makes it sound like the coupe is heavier, but the weight comes from the active spoiler and the extra stiffening added to the chassis. These features should make the coupe handle much differently than the hardtop hatchback.

It actually about 43 lbs heavier. 13 pounds from the pop up spoiler. The rest I would assume from the additional bracing. The Coupe is touted as the stiffest Mini built to date. The JCW version is also the fastest at 149 MPH. I think the 0 to 60 speed is 6.2 seconds. Not a huge difference over the standard JCW S model but I think the handling with the stiffer body makes the difference. It's a very cool car I'm my opinion. I have a test drive lined up for this Saturday. I will be driving the JCW Coupe. It should be pretty exciting. I'm looking forward to it.

I wish I could've driven a JCW, but it wasn't an option for a presale test drive :(

Is it because they didn't have one or they just wouldn't let you drive it on a test drive?

They had one on the showroom, I didn't go there with intentions of buying, so I didn't bother asking if I could drive it, it was trapped in by 4 or 5 other MINI's. I didn't really bother, since I am a Justa driver, it's not like the car let me down.

I'm not a fan, maybe if they made a roadster I'd like it more, but I think the roof line doesn't work.

I never cared for the looks of the coupe, but I really like the pic you took. I gotta see one in person.

RJ: the pic is above, I didn't buy, wish I could afford. haha
Nrob: Global Imports ATL is nearly is nearly 50 miles from me, which in my plans that day were also to stop by WMW, but that didn't happen because I was at the dealer too long.

I didn't like them when I saw it on MINIUSA.com, but after seeing in person, I got a taste for it.

We also went and test drove the Coupe yesterday, Must be a standard set they sent to all dealers. We drove the black with silver top coupe as well.

Ours has been on order now for a month, went into production as of last night(got VIN #) WOOHOO!!!! So excited now that we have seen one and got to drive it! I think it is a very slick looking car, pictures just don't do it justice!! The roof spoiler is just that, a true open spoiler and it looks really good on the car in person.

We are getting the Chili Pepper Red with black roof and red/black racing stripes.

I'm getting one with the same color palate. However I am getting the JCW version. Should be landing in PH on the 11th.
I haven't seen the car in person yet but I have a JCW test drive scheduled for tomorrow.
