The 3 cylinder is going to take some getting used too. Is this a confirmed engine? I would have to see the specs before I would go for a 3 cylinder. I know there putting a lot of HP in small packages but 3 cylinders? I suppose it will have to have a balance shaft? Sounds like a lot of parasitic HP loss.
But I'm no engineer so who knows. It will be a time of change for the Mini brand and it will be interesting to see how the US buyers will respond to that.
Paceman is confirmed for next November... which would leave the hatch in 2013ish which would then leave the Coupe/Convertible change possibly in 2014ish.
I haven't gotten looks like the ones I'm getting now since I had my first Mini in Sept. '02. Today while I was stopped for a light in the left lane I glanced over and saw that a woman in the right lane had an astonished look on her face. When she turned and looked at me I could make her out saying, "So cute!" She gave me a hardy which I returned. Then.....as I was about to leave a parking lot I saw a fellow in a Mercedes SLK 350 pull in. He got out and just stood and stared in amazement as I drove away watching him in my rear view mirror. It's a real kick every time this kind of thing happens. All of the feedback I have received about the Coupe's styling has been positive. The way the Coupe looks isn't even the best part.....my favorite thing is how it drives!
Can't wait to be driving something unique again. The R53/R56 are cool but so common place. Even see many heavy modified ones per day so will be happy to be in the minority once again.
The R58 is very rare on the roads... I get stares, thumbs up and stopped and asked questions all the time now. It's fun, but as a result I've been late a few times
I hope to get the stares starting tomorrow, picked up car this evening so it was dark when I got home. Talk about rare in my area, we are first to take delivery on a pre-order from the dealer! I can't wait, this is going to be so much fun
Not gonna happen. It's my understanding that only 1,000 Coupes will be sent to the US each year. That's only 5% of all Mini's, so sightings will be far and few between. I'd love to hear when someone finally spots another on the road.....could be a while.
I'm not sure I believe that... According to Motoringfile, there were over 400 Coupes sold in the US in October alone. There's no way MINI will only sell 1,000 per year. Maybe 1,000 for the remainder of 2011 (i.e. October through December 2011).
Geek, that is one great looking Coupe! Love it. I see you also own my other fav the Camden addition. Is MINI back to a true Black with no metalic? I loved my Jet Black 04.

As a newbie to this forum and to Mini's, I am very excited about my FIRST Mini being a Coupe!!!! I love the look and drive, can't wait for mine to get here!
+1 first mini and the Coupe.....Some like Honda's, others Kawasaki, even still there are HD riders..I don't care what you show up with I just like to enjoy the ride....it's whats in between here and there that really makes the difference....
