Another shot from yesterdays Metroplex MINI event in Dallas. Shows off the black xenons.

Oh and I'm getting about 32-34mpg right now in the Coupe S. I'm driving pretty conservatively in break-in but I do have my spouts of really pushing it

About 50/50 for highway/city driving.

Lol, that is what my boring 98 Civic HX gets, and it was the high mpg variant then.

I had to drive through a section of roadworks yesterday with a 50mph speed limit and average speed cameras, I set the cruise control to 48mph and got 70mpg over a ten mile section!

With saintly break in driving speeds I'm averaging in the high 40s in terms of mpg, since I'm trying not to hold constant revs at the moment I think that if I tried I could easily get into the 50s.

Your Imperial gallon is 20% bigger than a Yankee gallon, still your numbers are great.

Pez getting 34 mpg would be 40.8 mp Imperial gallons. We have heavier feet over here.

UK petrol prices are crazy, my feet are heavy just after payday then get progressively lighter throughout the month.

Our average fuel price is 132p a litre. Which is £6 for an imperial gallon. Which I think works out as $7.55 per US gallon. Imagine that!

I think the black xenons look pretty good. Have you thought of blacking out the pop up headlight washers. Either that or both the trim ring and the washers would complete the theme IMHO.

I personally don't know yet. Blacking out the car is something I've considered but I like Chrome..

At the same time I always look at the blacked out stuff as a bit plasticky looking and almost cheap.

Well, some people on here are pretty good with Photoshop. Maybe a kind soul will "show" you what it would look like to help with a decision. I am not advocating an entire blackout, it just seems the chrome washer oval sticks out against the black xenons. It isn't horrible in any sense of the word, but sometimes subtle changes can really make a difference.

Which is why you see mainly diesel Minis and Justas there (I just got back from a couple weeks). If we had those gas prices no way 2/3 of Mini buyers buy the S.

BTW that orange Coupe is pretty sweet looking Perez. The MA in Scottsdale has a demo Coupe S there he told me. I'll have to go drive it next time I'm there. You guys who ordered without seeing/driving one are pretty brave IMO.

Well I've seen it on other Spice Oranges in the Spice Orange Owners Club thread here on NAM. I admit it looks cool but I still don't know.

Another thing is I wouldn't want to blackout even just the chrome washer. It honestly doesn't bother me as much as it seems to be bothering you :P

If I were to blackout I would black out the whole thing.

What?

Coupes have taken a tour around the US since June/July of this summer. In fact I saw a Coupe in July and sat in it. I test drove one 3-4 weeks before I got mine as well. Test drive models started arriving about 2-3 weeks before the October 1st launch.

I've never even touched ANY MINI. Not brave, just confident enough to own one for at least a few years. I don't learn/adapt to different vehicles quickly, a 30 or 60 minute test drive on the North side of Indianapolis wouldn't do much for me. I'd have to take it home for a week an thrash it on the curvy hilly tight roads that I know and enjoy, and I don't think the dealer would be happy about that.

I ordered it before I saw it but was sold when I saw the original concept. Of course, an order doesn't mean you are required to buy the car, and of course you get to see your MINI Coupe in person before you actually buy it.

I only just noticed, and even seeing it in person and driving one, but WHY is the antenna not on the roof?!?!?!

Where would it go? Hardtops use them in their back/middle but they don't offer contrasting stripes as an option on the roof unless you do it aftermarket so they didn't want to jack with an option that many people would possibly get as it would stick in and ruin the stripe combination.

Also most hardtop coupes and roadsters have them on the back side..

ie: BMW Z's

It would go on the roof, like i said. Stripes could go around it. The antenna isn't that big.

That would look hideous..

First.. They are sports stripes so they are already close to each other and would ruin the straight parallel look.

Second.. The roof is MUCH smaller then the standard R56/R53 hardtops and isn't even flat like those cars and it is rounded so it would stick out like a sore thumb.

MINI wanted the same location for the Coupe and Roadster, so that meant putting it in the back.

The black roof with tinted glass may change my mind on the coupe. Best looking coupe I have seen.
