MotorTober - what are they telling you?

Hi people! For those of you who have taken delivery BEFORE your dealership's MotorTober $750 off event, what are they telling you? My dealer told me in order to take advantage of the deal, I have to wait til after to get the money off. So what do I do?! My MINI is here, I can pick it up TODAY. Or wait an entire week to save $750. Ahh!

When I ordered my car last weekend the MA told me that I would need to come in to the event and pick up a certificate that is good for the $750 off. Apparently you can only get one at the event. And you have to be physically present I guess. I registered in advance as per the email they sent and the MA said I am on the list. Why they can't just take one of these certificates and put it in my file I do not know.

With respect to prior sales I would guess that you will have a hard time getting $750 out of them once the deal is closed. But I suppose it doesn't hurt to ask. In your situation the $750 would definitely be worth it to me to wait a few days.

If you can hold out a few more days.... DO IT! I know how hard it will be,,, so drink heavily and you won't think about it! Then let the rest of us know how it worked for you.

I am doing the "responsible" thing and holding out. Appointment scheduled for the 24th at 10 am for pickup.

Luckily (or not haha) I'm having sinus surgery on Friday, so I'll be pretty out of it and won't miss my Coupe too much.

I was told by my dealer that since I ordered my car in July (It's being built as I type) that I do not qualify for the $750 discount even if my car is delivered in the "window."

wow. too bad you can't go to another dealer. I would go to the event and get one of the certificates anyway and see what it actually says. When you ordered it shouldn't matter. When you actually pick it up and pay for it is what should matter.

My MA has advised me of the same thing. Apparently Mini USA considers a customer ordered a "sold" vehicle. The promotion applies only to vehicles ordered/sold on or after the event and delivered before January 3,2012.

If I ordered one this Saturday and it takes as long to get built as this one that I ordered in July, it wouldn't be delivered by Jan 3!

Agreed. I would fight with the dealer on it, other dealers are giving the money off for "sold" cars (and not just Coupes). I first heard about this from a Clubman order.

My MA told me that the car I ordered last Saturday would qualify and that as long as I ordered by this weekend it would be delivered in time. I just have to go back this week and pick up the certificate to get the money off. The manager of the dealership seemed to be on the same page with this. So it sounds like there is no definitive policy. Since you are not obligated to buy the car I don't see how they can consider it "sold". Tell them you want your deposit back. And then buy the car.

I guess there was a certain backlog of orders from the summer that had to be cleared out. And since the factory was down for retooling or whatever that would also account for some of the delays from July orders.

Gee, how many vehicles ordered after mid-October will be delivered before Jan 3 2012? Not many, I suspect.

I don't know. They told me it is 6-8 weeks right now. So it will be close but should make it.

To all who cares
if you order if you going to order or even if you are thinking about it, what a heck just go to your dealer register for the even do what you have to do, and get your certificate so you can take advantage of this opportunity is $750 off, I am offering an extra $750 for those who pick up before the end of this month. I never understand what is the problem when MINI is offering a rebate at a certain date? why would anyone would want to pick up the MINI today when they can wait until after the event and pull the rebate on their favor..

The rebate as far as I understand is good at least Dec 31st some other dealers until Jan 3er.

Enjoy the rebate!

Oh BTW I called all my order clients and told them about the event we are having this Sat so they too can get the benefit.

I wonder if we could get an official interpretation from Mini USA? It almost is sounding as if dealerships are intrepreting the rebate terms differently or have certain latitudes in application of the rebate.

I called MINI USA today and they confirmed the ineligibility of preorders for the $750 rebate.

Thank you for taking the time to confirm. That must mean then that some dealers are offering the discount at a local level, rather than through the corporate rebate level.

or it could mean that they just don't understand the program yet either.

But at this point I believe my dealer will honor it since they told me they would and I have it in writing on the order sheet and a couple of emails.
