R58 Meet Newton

Had my first issue today. Went to start Newton to go to a car show and it was dead. No power for the lights or radio and the Start/Stop button barely flickered. Jump-started him and he's been fine since. The only thing different I did was put the rear spoiler up Friday to wash him. Then I backed him into the garage and left the spoiler up so it could dry out inside. I let the car sit all day Saturday like that. Then this morning the battery was dead. That can't be related, can it?
I already planned to take Newton to my dealer tomorrow (Monday) to get the tires rotated and fluids checked, so I will have them check the battery. I'm motoring on a long trip Tuesday and don't want to be stranded somewhere random.

That is weird James. I would not think that the two things are related. Once the spoiler is up I wouldn't think there would be any other electrical sources activated other then the motor to move it up or down, but only when the switch is activated. I raise the spoiler on my car as well but I always put it down after drying the car. Maybe I should try the same thing and see if I get the same effect.
I will be interested to hear what the dealer has to say.

March Updates:
Newton got a new battery and I haven't had any issues since.
I motored 13.5 hours straight from Orlando to Washington, DC stopping only for gas twice and 15 minutes for lunch. On the return trip, I stopped two nights in Spartanburg, SC and attended Hendrick MINI's 10th birthday party in Charlotte, NC. Total miles motored was 1,986. Resetting at each fill-up, my indicated fuel efficiency for four tanks was 37.9 mpg, 37.5 mpg, 38.1 mpg, and 38.6 mpg. Average speeds: 71.4 mph, 60.0 mph, 62.9 mph, and 73.8 mph. My MINI Sport Antenna, which had previously cracked and was superglued, broke completely during the trip.
I entered Newton in the 2012 All British Car Show last weekend and he won 1st Place in the New MINI class among 11 MINIs. I didn't expect to place well because I didn't think classic British car enthusiasts would like the Coupe, but I was wrong.

Thanks!
The show included every exotic car from Bugatti to McLaren and then there was Newton. Obviously not in the same price range, but very unique (for now) and drew a lot of attention and photos. MINI definitely has street cred and showing my JCW Coupe alongside those cars can only help MINI's image, right?
Here are someone's (not mine) photos from the show:

Today is six months since I took delivery of Newton on 11/15/2011.
Newton has over 11,000 miles in that time. I have replaced the front JCW badge, the battery, and the MINI Sport Antenna.
Highlights include a roadtrip from Orlando to DC and two car shows: Festivals of Speed Mission Inn and the Mead Garden All British Car show (where Newton won 1st Place for new MINI class). Next, Newton will be shown at the Disney Car Masters Weekend II at Walt Disney World's Downtown Disney on June 2-3.

My MINI John Cooper Works Coupe represented MINI at the Downtown Disney Car Masters Weekend at Walt Disney World. Chip Foose was the celebrity judge for the car show. Newton received many compliments from "Adorable!" to "Que linda!" to "That's hot!" and must have posed for hundreds of photos. Even though I wore my new MINI Coupe shirt, I must have been asked dozens of time if the roof comes off.
