When backing out of driveway I heard ths strange noise that sounded like a brakeshoe dragging on the caliper. Went to dealer this am with problem. They said it was the spoiler actuator starting up. The tech manually showed me the sound by tripping the toggle switch of the spoiler and produced the sound. Anybody noticed this?
I think it's the hill hold feature either resetting itself or setting itself?? It has a similar feel to when the hold thing lets go when you take your foot off the brake. I may be way off here, but that's my uneducated guess!
"spoiler actuator starting up". Does that mean the spoiler actually goes up and down then? Does the noise occur everytime the car is started? When do you hear it?
If its not every time it is almost every time I start the car which is almost always followed by me backing out of the garage or parking spot. I hear it coming from the rear passenger side.

My understanding is this is a self test of the actuator. The spoiler does not move. It is just the computer testing the system to insure it is operational.
I thought it was the hill control as well. Primarily because it does not happen until I begin to move. Regardless of whether I am in gear or letting gravity accelerate me down the driveway, I hear the same faint "clunk." If it was the spoiler actuator, I would expect it to happen at a set time interval after the ignition is activated. And if not, I would expect it to show some other easily relatable cause & effect, such as having it (actuator test) happen when I put the car in gear.
I'm going to have to pay much closer attention, maybe even start taking notes on my phone to make sure I'm not creating details in my head.
