R58 Lowering my JCW Coupe
#52
Hey gang sorry I haven't responded earlier. Yep, the drop is just as advertised. Actually just a bit more and I think it's just right. I've had a few incidents where I almost got myself into a bottom out situation and had to angle to the car dramatically to avoid scraping but for the most part (about 99% of the time) the car will handle going over anything a normal road throws at you.
The ride is better now than upon initial installation but that may be due to me being used to how it rides more. I went on a pretty intense drive down some backroads a few weeks back and I swear I couldn't get the tires to let loose. It holds the road like a fiend and drives like a banshee! LOVE this car! For everyday commutes and spirited driving I really see no need to go with a heavier sway bar (rear) than 19mm. It's more than enough.
If your planning on lowering your Coupe I don't think you can go wrong with the NM springs. The price is right and the ride is great. I'ts too bad the car doesn't come from the factory this way. It should.
Ooo, didn't see you Coupe till after I hit send GeekGuy. Looks awesome!

Just judging from the pics in this thread, it looks like the H&R Springs drop slightly lower than the NM. But I love the nice even wheel gap of the NM springs. (i.e. the top of the wheel well isn't 2 inches closer to the tire than the sides.)
NM may be the way for me to go when the time comes. So many mods, so little time (and money)... sigh.

Keep in mind that the NM springs have dropped a hair since those pics of mine were taken but yes, I believe the HR springs do drop the car a tad lower, but just a tad. On the plus side the NM springs are a pretty blue color, lol! I need to go measure the gap again since it's been awhile. I't doesn't appear to have moved any since the last time but you never know.

The "Sport Package" includes xenon headlamps, white turn signals, dynamic traction control, bonnet stripes, and your choice of a limited selection of "upgraded" wheels. Sport Suspension is a separate option.

I ordered my Coupé with the standard suspension, as I knew I would go aftermarket. Didn't want to spend $500 for a Sport Suspension and then turn around and replace most of the parts within a few months. Talked with Way at the Dragon about options, and we'll do at least springs and a 19mm rear sway bar at MINIs in the Mountains in August. Even with the standard suspension, Raylan was a beast on those NC roads. Can't wait to upgrade, though!

I had them on my previous MCS because I had thought of doing track down the road (still do), and I am really addicted to twisties. I may put them on the Coupé at the same time as the springs and rear sway bar as one of those "as long as we've got everything dismantled anyway, why not" things. But I'm far from an expert about this. Anybody?

Great choice! If I could have afforded it at the time I'd have ditched the stock shocks and gone with coilovers as well. Luckily the stock shock/NM spring combo work excellent together so I'm not crying. I'm planning on some Koni yellows or straight up coilovers once my stock shocks go south......or I get tired of them.....or I run out of planned mods. I'm pretty sure my stock shocks will wear out before I run out of stuff I'd like to do/redo to this car, lol.
