Received an email from MA thats checking into the insulation situation. She's still "checking". She checked all of the Coupes on the lot and none had the insulation installed. And the saga goes on ---
Here's another tidbit....my wife's 09 MCS evidently got insulation put under the hood when it went in for the recall in February....it's a small piece about the side of the scoop and found directly under the scoop....no where near as big as the one on my JCW Roadster.
My JCW does not have the insulation either. I took delivery in October 2011. But the scoop has numerous holes in it for air flow. My hood does get warm but I don't think it is warm enough to harm anything. The heat has a way to escape with the holes in the hood. I'm not sure which is better. Insulation with no holes in the hood scoop or no insulation and hole in the scoop.
PS I sat in a JCW Coupe today with the Recaro seats and boy are those sweet. AND comfortable. I wish those had been an option when I bought my car. At first I thought a no go for me but after sitting in them I changed my mind. Very nice seats.
I picked up my april build Cooper S Roadster today - it has a new square piece of metal mesh directly above the turbo attached to the insulation shown in the first post.
Seems they have solved the problem because after two hours of driver the entire bonnet was stone cold
