Moving tires

Hi all,

Silly question - For those who don't do tire changes at home, how do you guys move the tires from home to the garage using just the coupe without using a second car? Do you simply put the tires on the front seat?

Cheers!

It's a squeeze getting 4 wheels & tires in the back of a MINI hardtop with the seats down. I cannot imagine getting 4 wheels & tires into a Coupé without lube & a crowbar.

Maybe 2 in the front & 2 in the back? Even then, I'm not optimistic.

If you attempt this, I want pics. ;-)

Sorry to those who have seen this before, but my technique in a R59 is one on the passenger seat, one and a half in the boot/trunk and one on the Mini bike rack:

Sorry, I think that's a Europe- (or maybe UK-) only rack system. The car is ordered with 'bike rack prep' which is having two towing eye sockets (you can just see the left side one in the photo) plus an electrical socket under the boot/trunk floor.

The bike rack then just screws into those two towing eye sockets once the plastic covers have been popped off. It's a lovely system but can't be retrofitted - well, not economically, as it would need a new rear bumper cover and the beam underneath.

I got a cheap rack that was at a dealers since the R57 launch as otherwise just the rack alone costs $600 -though that does include the coding of the car that I haven't yet bothered to get done, so my extra rear lights don't work.
