I've installed aftermarket pedals to my R58 MINI Coupé...
Hi NAM Community!
I own a brand new 2012 R58 Pepper White MINI Coupé, and I acquired these ones posted on eBay (I'm not allowed to paste URLs, however, I made direct contact with the seller; he made some discount to an order combined with other products. I can provide you the contact if you're interested to).
Allow me to say that original Cooper S are very expensive here in Argentina (Ar$ 2900.- that represents around u$d 400 / 500! So, my plans are to install them sometime, later).
With a little adaption, here are the results (see attachments, sorry for the phone quality pics).
My objective was to drill the less possible, however, 4 holes to the gas pedal, and 4 more to the brake and clutch pedals were necessary (good thing is that moving back to the original rubber covers, holes can't be ever seen).
Adaptions to the original kit:
- I utilized special 6mm screws instead of the 3mm provided with the kit (mine are wider, and shorter; objective is to achieve better fixation and avoid any contact with the electronic behind the gas pedal)
- I enforced adhesion with 3M double-side sticking tape
- Cut the head of 4 of the 3mm original screws, and paste them to the footrest holes, and taped with 3M tape (the same one mentioned above) in order to re-utilize the space left when removing the factory oval plastic footrest that came with the MINI (very cheap, indeed).
Pros:
They look nice when installed, for an incredible reasonable price/value
Cons:
(And that is a personal opinion) They don't look like Original MINI, no matter they have the logos in there
Hope this help you with the decision!
Cheers!
Sincerely,
