Paddel Shifter

Can anybody tell me why does the paddle shifter isn't (-) on the left and (+) on the right? Instead it's both (- & +) on the same paddle. It's kinda hard to use specially when your used to the left and right shifting. Is there a way to convert it?

no!.....I noticed this too. You just have to get used to it. I think in terms of up & down thru the gears. You press down on the paddle and it will go down a gear. You press up and it goes up gear. Different but easy. Left or right handed too. You just have to forget shifting like Grand Turismo 5 lol.

There is a way to convert it but it would require you pull the airbag and reconfigure which wire goes to which paddle and so forth...not super easy but doable if you absolutely have to do it.

I vote for just get used to it.

i remember reading a thread here somewhere that shows how to reverse one of the paddles

i seem to remember it was under the dash, involved reversing a pair of wires in a connector and did not distrurb the airbag

i have a manual, so did not bookmark it, sorry

QFT!

I discovered this while using a loaner. It freaked me out at first when i wanted to downshift and it went up a gear instead Damn you Gran Turismo!!!

I have a manual as well so it's a non-issue for me

Thanks guys! I just noticed that most of the cars with paddle shifters are left and right. Even BMW's are like that. Why did they make it different with the Mini?...

Scott: Hi! May I ask, how did you get a manual? You got it online or in the Mini shop? If ever, can Mini do that switching of the wires or will it be an at your own risk move? Lol!
