R58 JCW Rear Diffuser

Hi Guys

The R58 goes in for service newxt Fri and while I am at the dealer there parts guy has the GP rear diffuser kit on sale for $370.

I like the look of it and have seen several threads on the install for the R58.
Only issue is his parts book says it won't fit the R58 is his book missing a part or is it just not properly cross referenced since it shows R56 only?

As long as you have the JCW rear bumper it will fit no problem.

Sneaky Baron

Your Diffuser is it the entire unit or just the visible part?

It sure looks nice thanks for posting.

Tomorrow if all goes well I should have the rear diffuser kit how long does the install take and can I do it with the car on the ground?

yes, you could do it on the ground, not long.

Terry the Parts guy wanted me to check and make sure his kit would indeed work comparing the printout he gave me all looks good will order the kit on Monday.

While I was at Tampa Mini I saw a beautiful R59 with the rear diffuser and a tow hitch designed into the rear bumper cover very unique.
This R59 looked lowered and had numerous custom parts installed.

If you get our kit it will fit. We have the correct hardware.

Any more pics? Looks like a MINI FINI Tow link and some yellow stripes and paint. Also with that JCW GP2 Diffuser kit.

In my opinion, this is very ugly and to drill holes in the rear bumper to install a tow hitch is not a good idea.

This thing may be at least 8" out of the rear bumper. This is quite a hazard for the car parked behind you.

Here is a link thanks to ECSTuning Guy
http://www.minifini.com/results.php?category=5

I think he has the Sport link 3 and the Sport Link attachment base.
This whole setup removes and leaves the small holes which has 2 caps to cover up.

I don't know anything else about it but in person it looks very well made and if you have to use a hitch it's a good choice.

Pedestrians security issues here.......anybody can sue this guy for injury and/or broken leg for big money because the towing ball is so far out of the bumper and nothing is in tow.

I would never drill my bumper and the rear end dismantled for this set up.

Yes we live in a litigation happy country where common sense is not allowed to exists.

He doesn't have to leave the Ball and other mount visible at all the entire exterior system can be removed.

I owned a fully restored Austin Healey 3000MK III about 15 years ago.

The knock off spinners were not allowed anymore from 1966 on European sports cars with wire wheels for pedestrian safety issues.

Love my MiniFini hitch

I also have the MiniFini hitch installed on my R59 and absolutely love it.

The "attachment base" can easily be removed, and unlike the car above I would never leave it attached when not in use.

Here is a link to my review post in the R59 section.

I have several follow-up posts in that same thread after I used things for awhile.

Thanks for the video. It explains well the kit and installation.

I really like the look of the stock valence because it better suits the overall esthetics of the rear bumper and the polished exhaust tips shows far better without the diffuser.

This is a question of personal taste.

Skip a few Starbucks and go for it chief. I'm sure your well aware it's also functional unlike most of the junk rear diffusers you see on the road. On my boost gauge I saw a slight increase in vacuum at cruising speed meaning the engine was working less hard. Also saw a little over 1 mpg increase in gas mileage.

For me personally I also think it completes the rear of the Coupe and elevates it from great looking to bad ***.

It's on my Father's Day list! It's a great good looking functional detail. Even better with the front belly pan.
