I have never sprayed clear from a gun previously, only rattle can. I gotta say, I love how this stuff sprays. I have some nibbing and buffing to do, but I am happy with the out come.

Just a slight shade difference. I have the original scoop next to the one I sprayed. Dang lucky is how I figure it.

Now my schedule is full for the next two weeks. Assembly! The end is near!

Too subtle for me to see any difference. I think you're going to be okay with this. Looking awesome, IMO.

Looks great Dog! Now that you have spray equipment you should never need another rattle can. Won't take long to shoot the rest of the car when you get a minute (you know it's coming ). Btw... if you put 3 coats of clear on it'll cut and buff really nice. I do one step sometimes, 1000 grit wet, and menzerna 400 with a wool pad. Tape the crowns and edges to be safe.

Whole car maybe some day. Right now just trying to get my ride back on the road.

I did 2 coats 4:1:1, that is what I did on the rims as well. It appears to be similar to factory clear thickness, only thing is, it has more shine. Gonna have to do a paint correction to the rest of the vehicle to make it look right.

I was amazed the 3 sags I had in the metallic aren't as noticeable after the clear. I thought it would magnify them.

In the sunlight will be the true test.

Here is one of just the hood from a top angle

Bottom left by the headlight is one of the corrections I have to make. One was a bug, the other dirt.

It might look nice but I remembered something from when I worked in the body shop as a kid. I HATE ADJUSTING GAPS ON A HOOD! UP/DOWN/FORWARD/AFT. I need to get my parts out of my brother's place, he needs his two post lift this weekend. Safest place at my place is on the car.

After putting it on and checking the gap, I got REALLY LUCKY on color match. It is much closer than I thought. Granted this is with LED lights and sunlight will be the true test.

DogfaceSGM - Hope you don’t mind a side question about paint. I have a plastic piece that wil be replacing the lower lip on the front of my MINI. It came unfinished and smooth. I need it to match up to the black textured plastic wheel well arch piece. Do you know of any rattle can paint that will go on and dry textured? Doesn’t have to be a perfect match but not look like a total mismatch. Thank for any advice.

Are you talking about the black plastic splitter on the bottom of the front bumper. I used a pic from ECS's page, hope they don't mind.

If this is the piece you are referring to, I would return it and get the correct one.

I don't know of textured paint to match the rough exterior of our normal plastic trim.

As a disclaimer, I am not a professional auto body guy. I used to work it 40 years ago. Back then, there wasn't all this plastic on the vehicles

The normal front spoiler or lips on MINI come textured black. Unless its super rare primed ones for the full painted body kit. Sport aero body kits had this option.

We do have the front JCW Lip for the Aero III front bumper here: https://www.ecstuning.com/News/MINI_New_JCW_Black_Line/

Yup, that be it. I know you said you’ve been away from this for a while and took the gamble that with your recent searches you might have passed by something like that.

About a year ago I got the Duell AG Gigamot front spoiler for my F56 JCW and just now popped open the box. Unfortunately, it is smooth and unfinished. The small print on the Duell AG web page does say unfinished, but I missed that part on the site I bought it from... IMHO, it was bit pricey for an unfinished piece. It’s mine now, so I figure I’ll check around for a textured something that might work or I may go with a flat black. That might not be too far off at 6 feet. For something that will be hanging low, a rattle can job might be good enough. The shame of it all is that it is the sharpest looking spoiler for the F56 that I have seen to date; it is what MINI should have done. Not sure why they molded it the way they did.

Ok, you need it to match the texture. I would get this stuff. This is the stuff used on the old MINI aero kit from bumper with included integrated lip and arch.

I will say SEM products showed up in a lot of my research but, I wasn't looking for this. There are a lot of people that swear by SEM products.

Yep, i dont know of anything else that matches the factory trim when you have a smooth or primed section. Other then painting all the trim body color or maybe a gloss black like our gloss black trims.

I have my military duty Saturday and a kids camp for abused children Sunday through Wednesday. I am kind of looking forward to a break. Been putting in a lot of long days/nights the last couple weeks.

Next Saturday, I owe my brother a "clean out his shop" day. He let me use it to spray everything. The floor is gonna take some time and scrubbing.

Got home last PM, only did a few things to prepare for re-assembly and found out, I forgot two pieces to paint.

Both side skirt air inlets. DOH! Again, ECS's pic.

LoL. If that was me, I would probably just paint them black.

I actually thought about it. It would give a different "accent". I still have paint/clear so I will do it body color.

Life has been busy! Did a little work last PM, bled the brakes and started assembling some of the black pieces in the bumpers and side panels. I painted the two missing pieces earlier this week.

I have my Great Granddaughter's 1st birthday party today in Cbus so no work today. Tomorrow, I want to get the above mentioned pieces on the car so I can finish setting the hood gap.

Yah, she likes cake.

Started mounting the front Aero bumper last PM. Only thing that is aggravating with the time it has taken is, "Where did i put the bag with the bolts in it for this?" . I used zip lock bags and labelled what was in it but put 3 bags in a box on a shelf and forgot about it. Dang near tore the garage apart looking for them.
