By the way...78 degrees at 8:30 a.m. I may not get to ski for a while, but the drive to work is fantastic. If you have a Roadster, LA is the place to be!

That traffic in front of your MINI doesn't look too good! I lived in Marina del Rey years ago and I remember LA traffic as particularly awful. The weather is certainly nice along the coast, however. I hope your roads open up and you get in some great motoring!

I have not been taking many pictures lately but did get one this weekend at the AIA Modern Homes tour.

Nice photo! While I flip-flop on not getting a black Roadster (being OCD enough as it is), I kick myself every day for not getting the black 5-spokes when I had the chance. (Wanna trade?)

Very cool Noreen! Congrats

It seems to me that's a mile stone... So I'm curious, what issues (repairs) have you had with your MINI since you have it, if any?

Ours is still too new to tell with under 4,000 miles so I'm curious to hear about long miler roadsters. Most active members seems to be younger vehicles on the roadster side . . .
We intend to keep ours for the long run so...

.

Very minimal repairs so far, HK amp replaced, sport antenna cracked and the this may sound ridiculous but the paint was chipping on steering wheel controls made me nuts I'm a little on the meticulous side with peanut so those little scratches seemed huge to me. All work done with warranty no hassles. As you can tell love driving it so far pretty much problem free.

I was hopping that's what you would say . . . Cross fingers it stays that way.
I hope our S will be reliable.
It's a decent amount of mileage for barely 2 yr old car.

. . . an it's no surprise your meticulous, it's very frequent on car enthusiast forum. You would see my other 8 yrs old car and you'd understand what I'm talking about

I picked up my Roadster on October 7th, then left for Florida for two weeks. As of December 9th, I have 583 miles on John Bull. I'll hit my break-in mark in February at this rate. Noreen, you really put on the miles!

I got a DSLR last week, and since have been looking for excuses to use it, and today tried some RAW editing...

We had some sundogs at sunset and even though wind chills were -20 I froze my fingers and managed to take about 70 photos to come up with these 3. LOL

Yes indeed! . . . very nice.

From what planet has this been taken on? . . . 3 suns . . . beautiful setting.
Thanks for sharing, really.

Boy this makes me so tempted to upgrade my SLR. My little rebel xt hasn't been cutting it for a long time...

And it's been so cold, and I've been so busy, both of our cars are so dirty (My cars rarely see a car wash, I always detail them by hand), looking at this pictures makes me want to brave the cold and get those filthy cars all cleaned up

That's right 3 suns! It's sundogs! Something to do with ice particles in the air facing a certain direction they reflect the suns light and create imitation suns. I have never seen them before growing up in Pennsylvania or in the past 5 winters here, but the last 2 weeks almost every day. Of course it probably doesn't help that I have been on night shift... Recently I went to day shift, and besides taking leave it's the first time I've seen the sun more than the occasional Saturday off in probably 11 years. If it's not cloudy there's sundogs and halos!

I washed mine one time after temp dropped below freezing and it's been relatively clean since! No bugs or mud, but I do have some black stuff building on the back of the car. Not sure if it's exhaust or brake dust, but it's a black dust like brake dust. Or maybe regular dust mixed with carbon from the exhaust? I don't know...

Never seen sundogs before . . . that'd be a cite I'd like to experience some days!

Well I ended up giving the MINI a full detailing tonight. Nothing better than inspiration

It's normal for the rear to get dirty like that. Almost every car do. It's the air turbulence that brings dirt back onto the boot. It could be exhaust or simply road grim as it often is. It is unlikely brake dust from direct exposure of your brake. It could be second hand brake dust left on the road with oil, tare, and all other nasty stuff the roads are layered with... welcome to the reality of road pollution
There isn't much that can be done about the air draft unfortunately...
