Thanks Gary. I was going for a classic look, and I think the 5 spoke will work well. Now off to the powder coaters we go.

Nice. Are you breaking out the black paint for these as well?

EDIT: Asked and answered, guess I was a few posts behind!

I made a small detail change to the exterior. I have been working on a balance of chrome to black, having replaced the chrome headlight rings with black, only to return to chrome again. I wasn't loving the black trim rings with my black headlight housings. So...borrowing a page from Porsche, I shot the trim rings in a deep metallic grey. I think it works very well. It's close in tone to the carbon fiber pieces on the Roadster, and provides a little visual "pop" for the black headlight housings.

Here's a look...

That works very well. It might be good on the rear light trim rings too.

Brilliant. I've always thought that CF for headlight rings is a bit of overkill (and that coming from someone who's already fast sliding down the slippery CF slope) but bringing in the similar but homogeneous metallic grey for contrast is masterful. Well played!

You're right, Steven, the deep metallic grey seems to be the perfect balance for the highlight trim rings. It creates enough contrast to keep it interesting without blending into the body color. It was a great choice, even if you had to borrow it from the Porsche group.

As previously mentioned, I am not a "black-out" kind of guy but really enjoy what you have done with your Roadster. I think the Toffee interior helps to keep your Roadster's black-out look sophisticated. Great job, Steven.

Honestly I think the only possible visual improvement to this ride at this point would be a top that matched your seat colors. Too bad Mini only offers them in black.

I have to agree. I think a toffee top would bring your ride to the absolute perfection!!!

A Toffee top would be a nightmare to keep up.

Wouldn't it have the same latching mechanism as the black top?

If such a thing existed, I would totally put a silver top on mine. Of course, then I'd have to start coming up with ways to get rid of the other black bits...maybe chrome the a-pillars, paint the wheel wells...

That's true, black paint is a PIA to keep looking good. Some how Steven has that mastered. I've never seen such a pretty car...

I just really like the look of a tan top on a roadster.

Had one on my midnight blue Miata LS. Yup it wasn't easy to keep clean but it looked fantastic IMO.

Not sure it would look good on my car but on a Black, Blue or Green car.........

A brown top would look great on Orange. Wouldn't go with my dash, though.

Another small detail. After changing out my headlight trim rings to the dark silver metallic and liking the effect, I decided to apply the same treatment to the side scuttles. The effect is very simple and I'm liking the look. I'm thinking of taking Spiney's advice and doing the rear trim rings next...

Looks good. I figured the headlight rings were the anthracite rings.
