R59 Viper Racing Stripes

Viper Racing Stripes
To all the fantastic R59 fans,
I found a very good priced 2012 R59 at Crevier MINI and the only option that I want thats not on the car was the black viper racing stripes. Does anyone here know if those can be factory installed after the fact? The link to the car is here: http://www.creviermini.com/VehicleDe...-CA/1829057303
If anyone has any other input that would be great as well.
Oh and I do hate the fact that it's a manual top so any input on that would be great.
Thanks in advance.
Danny

I assume you mean dealer-installed stripes--yes, my dealer and I believe all dealers can install a variety of stripes. There are many independent companies that can do so also.
As far as the manual top goes, I( have it and am perfectly happy with it. Very simple and straightforward, and probably quicker to open or close than the power top.

Thanks Colea,
the manual top means one less thing to break as well I guess.
You seem very knowledgeable, do you happen to know if they can also retro-fit the blacked out headlight housing and also the external power heated mirrors? not a deal breaker but wanted to know.
Thanks!

I'm guessing that retrofitting the heated power external mirrors would be a pretty big deal, neither easy nor cheap.

Dannylo77, If I were you, I would find a custom vinyl shop. You will get a far better product for a far better price.
I answered Zulu0001's question on another thread (can't remember which) with the following:
Good luck all, Motor On!

Andy, they have before but in your case probably won't be cheap. A couple years ago there was a guy named Achilleshonor, or some such, who ordered a 2011 MCS with the black headlights. When it got off the boat it had normal headlights. He raises hell and they retrofitted them. So... They can. Will they in your case? Dealers can be funny about these things. Would they charge you boatloads of ducats? Awww hell yeah!!!
If I were going to do it, I'd try buying the parts (I use MINI of Atlanta/for R56) and install them myself or get a third party mechanic to do it (MUCH cheaper!!!)

thanks everyone!
Colea,
I'm just worried that if they put them on at the dealership that it might not be the same as one that was installed from the factory. i.e. around the front emblem they would cut around and it would look bad or are they gonna remove the emblem and then do the stripes?
just a thought

thanks UKM1N1!
I am having them install it as well, don't want to go after market because sometimes they run it all the way down to the lower lip on the bumper and I don't think that looks good.
Anyone here have the alarm system? if so does the little **** under the rear view mirror flash when alarm is activated kinda like the BMW's?
Thanks,
Danny

You see, I'm the other with the stripes, I don't like the way that they stop the at the top of the grill, or at the bottom of the boot/trunk. It looks unfinished to me. That's why I'm having the dealer do my install of custom Chili Red Viper style stripes.

[QUOTE=RodSpindler;3704270]The dealer I went to has a guy that puts on their graphics, including the clear plastic chip protectors. Make sure they are using a top quality plastic, like mine does.
Thanks for the tip. My MA brags that this guy is very good, and she ordered the vinyl stripes. They come from a Grafix something or another. They supposedly have a very good reputation, so what more can I say. I'm pretty sure that this striper is an outside source, but wasn't told exactly. The dealer here where I live has a guy in house, that does vinyl, graphics, striping, and the clear bra. He did my Mini the last time, and I was quite pleased with his work. This time I'm going to pass on the clear protector, as this is a lease car this time, maybe I will live to regret it, but that $1,000 can go elsewhere.
