iPhone 5 cable for R59

In serious negotiations on a 2012 R59 and was wondering if any iPhone 5 users have found the new Y cable and if said cable works for iPod functions as well as Pandora streaming?

Thanks!
Danny

I haven't seen the new Y cable, but the old one works with the Apple lightning adaptor on it. I listened to Pandora on the way to work this morning. The only thing I found odd was that when changing Pandora stations on my Iphone 5 I had to restart Pandora each time. This was my first time using the system this way since I just bought the roadster over this past weekend. Maybe someone else knows more?

I have a 2013 R59, using the supplied cable + the short apple 30pin to lightning cable. No problems at all

The extra extension on the apple cable allows for the phone to sit nicely in the center tray between the seats.

Sweet! thanks all! Do either of you also have the Mini Connect? and can give me a comparison of sound quality streaming via bluetooth vs usb (Y cable)?
Thanks!

I have it and I rather use Bluetooth. With top or down you can barely hear a difference in sound. Its just more convenient to use bluetooth, but what you lose is the ability to change play lists on Pandora with your joystick, but then again your phone is right there.

I use the Bluetooth! Much easier and sound quality is good.

I did this as well, but also bought a USB and Auxillary extension cable. Then tucked it in the sides of the center console, ran it underneath driver seat, out the back and in between the lid of the armrest and the armrest itself. Now I basically have my own center console iPhone 5 Holder.

On another note, the wires would get tangled fairly easily, so I just took a hot glue gun and glued the usb extension and auxillary extension together and wrapped them to seem like one seamless cable.

This adapter, won't allow any flex:

So I got this one:

and the cable is small enough to fit in the crack between the lid and the console, still allowing the console lid to close.
