Let me start off by apologizing if this has been covered. I did a search and read through many pages and could not come up with a conclusion. If you have a link to where this is covered please let me know.
I have a 2012 Countryman S. I would like to go bigger tires without the lift. So far, from my research, 215/55R17 seems to be the biggest I can go.
Has anyone tried 215/60R17? I also came across a thread where they said 27" is the biggest diameter you would want to go, but curious if can go .2 higher.
215/55R17 --> 26.3" high / 8.5" wide
215/60R17 --> 27.2" high / 8.5" wide
205/60R17 --> 26.7" high / 8.1" wide
As stated, I have read about using the 215/55R17, has anyone tried the other two sizes?
Thanks

the aspect ratio on the side of the tire isnt the actual size but will be within 10% so a smallish 205 may be about the same as a large 195. some specs show the actual size on a rim. Then a 205 on a 6in rim will be a bit smaller than on a 7.5in rim as the sidewall spreads a bit more, also some specs will give the contact patch width and the overall width. some 205's will be wider but have a small contact patch. just to go all out there are some specs for rolling raduis or revs per mile that can sometimes help understand sidewall stiffness
