Blower fan speed issues
2015 All4 - First of many colder days today....have had no issues with the heater (or ac) until this morning. Car started up fine, warmed it up for 5 minutes, got in and turned up the fan speed.....did not respond to any of the speed settings. Am getting some air flow....probably a 1 or 2....but won't go any higher. Tried many combinations of heater settings but the blower speed never changed. Too dark out to check fuses right now (will in the morning but is that likely as I have some blower activity) Has anyone had similar issues? Possible causes/solutions?

Fan Speed Update: The day I experienced the fan speed issues it was -20C (-4F), the coldest day this fall so far. I drove the car for about 45 minutes to an hour and the fan speed never changed - got something but non of the upper speeds. I took it out the following day (-15C/5F) and everything worked normally, no issues with the fan.
I also did a bit of research and the first suspect was the blower motor resistor - even priced one out and began seeking installation instructions.
This morning took the R60 out to the airport, it was -24C (-11F). The fan ran normally with all speed positions available.
Am glad that it is working (or seems to be) correctly, but hate not knowing what the issue was......with my nearest dealer a 14 hour drive away(!?) it is electrical gremlins that scares me the most....

Also, there was a warning symbol next to the odometer. The manual didn't get specific on what it meant. Dealer said it could indicate multiple things. Too bad it didn't display a useful message like, "energy conservation mode - service now."

Yep, might be the weak battery and when its cold it can handle all the thing on start up. When my battery went, it started to lose all the larger electrical functions. Then it died.
You can try the blower motor resistor first: https://www.ecstuning.com/Search/Sit...h/64113422663/

Pretty sure my fan issue is battery related now (and not a failing fan speed resistor).....have a 2015 All4 JCW and looks like it still has the original battery (bought the car used) which is getting weak. On colder days on start-up, sometimes see "Excessive battery discharge" notification on the screen....when I see this I don't get all the fan speeds - it is stuck on a lower setting. It doesn't seem to matter how long I drive.....the higher speeds never come back.
I installed a trickle charger and when that is plugged in I have no issues with the fan, so definitely is battery related. I am trying to get one last winter out of this battery...and will change it later this year...unless have other battery issues....prior to next winter.

Yep, mine did this also, when the battery is low the fan runs very slow till charged the next time or new battery.

I would suggest looking at the battery first based on my experience. I installed a new battery last year and the problem almost always went away - if my R60 is left for a few days in the coldest weather (<-30) it sometimes still happens. I see 'Excessive Battery Discharge" pop up immediately when starting (easy to miss - message doesn't last very long) and the triangle icon appears next to the mileage as mentioned. A trickle charger helps if you live in a very cold climate.
Of course, if install a new battery you probably have to "register it"...lots of info on this forum about that.
