In 2013: front pads- twice, clutch at 20000miles (they couldn't find the problem. I let mechanic drive on their parking lot for 3 minutes with stop and go traffic. He staled 3 times). Today was towed to dealer due bad coils. They have to replace all of them. Clutch spring is getting worst. Very, Very noisy engine on sub 30F cold startups. 30k miles on the clock.

Did we really need to resurrect a thread that has been dead for over a year now with this??

yes we really need to. It should be retitled "what else could brake". The more people complain about faults about it the more service bulletins and recalls we will have in the future. If you love countryman, I'll sell you mine as soon as warranty ends and than we'll see.....I give you really good price....

that is great. I had a car for 7 years and only did regular maintenance.
not one issue. not one.

My grandfather, a mechanic for 40+ years always said, not everyone will have lemonade at a party.

I firmly believe if BMW takes the reins 100% and cuts most of the low end suppliers or enforces some sort of accountability of quality, they will have a FANTASTIC BRAND.

I have to chime in even though this thread is old, my 2011 Cooper S Countryman all 4 has been a POC, today the mechanic called and told us the low pressure fuel pump shorted and burned a hole in the gas tank. $1600 to fix this and a coolant leak and this will be the last money we sink into this Mini, we have not owned it 4 years yet and have spent over $5k on this car in repairs. Anything that can go bad has either been replaced or needs to be. I love my Mini but hate all the Problems.....stick a fork in me, I am done.

March 30, 2020 will be 8 years owning my 2012 cms all4 and April 10, 2020 will be 8 years for my sister owning her 2012 cms alk4. As of now, both have only had routine maintenance, oil/filter changes, air filter, tires, plugs, brakes, etc. No surprises, nothing broken. Still say best car i have owned since my first car in 1970.

update
Guess what? just took her out for a drive and it is still leaking coolant! that repair was $470 in parts not including labor and still doing the exact same thing we took her in for. So back she goes Monday but good news the mechanic said he would do it as cheaply as possible for us! HAHAHA

we have owned this car 4 years in March and so far we are out of pocket $7300.81 that does not include the footwell module that was replaced at NC and the High Pressure Fuel Pump that was also replaced at NC so not just the $1617 we had to pay out today.

another update: Husband took the CMS back in today and the mechanic took the car apart in front of him and found that the thermostat was faulty and the casing cracked(plastic) he is not charging us for the labor but the part is $200, almost everything that can be replaced on this mini has been and it also has a active service order notice on the turbo. We have accepted an offer from a major National Car buying/selling service and will be selling it as soon as it is repaired.
