I'm getting a strange noise, appears to be under the turbo. It sounds like something is shorting out with a hum after the car is shut down. Turbo timer short? Dont know. Anyone else?
Almost got it right...it's the auxiliary water pump, not a fan. It cools the the turbo in the absence of circulating oil and air after shutting down the engine.

It is indeed a normal and most welcome sound.
Thanks for the clarification! This is my first week with my first MINI. . .I'm learning as I go here!
There is both a fan and the Aux coolant pump. The fan will be obvious and loud, it is to cool the water that the much quieter aux pump is circulating. The fan is not an every time thing but often after hard driving, then parking it will kick on.

Thanks. Do you have any info on this? Mine did it last night and I knew it wasn't a fan as it was too quiet. I'd like to know more what this is doing. Is it just around the turbo, the whole motor?
But yup, after 10 min, it shut off and there was a quiet but noticeable "click" as if some valve was closing or something.
Yes, both our 2012 and 2013 CMSA4 (As well as or 2011 BMW X5) make that same soft humming noise after engine shutdown. It is the auxiliary coolant pump running coolant through the turbo(s) to cool it down. And the hotter the weather and the harder you have driven the car right before engine shutdown, the longer you will hear the pump run.
