2012 Countryman S - Had misfire and now has p2418 code

Good Evening any insight on this is appreciated 👍.
It started with a misfire on number 1 about 4 months ago. I swapped 1 and 2 and misfire followed, replaced all 4 coils ops check good.

Ran good about 3 months then hard acceleration at about 4500 rpms in first gear studdered and limp mode / check engine light came on p0300 and p0302. Swapped coils and plugs no change. Pulled ecu and had tested no issues there, tested spark and #2 was firing fine. Replaced fuel injectors as car is at 92k miles and figured they were probably gummed up. Did a compression test got between 170 and 180 psi in each cylinder. Pulled valve cover didn't see any obvious issues with cam or valve springs or rocker arm setup. I then replaced high pressure fuel pump and the misfire code is gone but I have a p2418 code now. Prior to replacing I could hear the misfire (sounded almost like a Subaru boxer engine in my opinion) sounds better but still seems off at idle/low rpm.

The car now has a hesitation when reving it up and runs like crap when first driving off or shifting into new gear (basically only seems effected at low rpm probably 1-2000 range). Any thoughts on this?

Did you replace those little oil seals underneath the engine cover when you did the coil packs & plugs? Mine had a bit of an oil leak into one which was causing a slight misfire. Once replaced (about 9 months ago along with the coil packs/plugs) the problem disappeared and hasn't returned.

Check timing chain & tensioner and timing, may have slipped a tooth. Otherwise when plugs and coils were changed did you use OEM or at least NGK plugs and Either OEM or Bosch ? you cant go cheap aftermarket on these engines.

Today I went to replace the Fuel Vapor Leak Detection Pump and come to find out all 4 wire were broke off (not corroded can only guess some critter chewed threw them).

After repairing the broke wires codes are all gone at idle (P2418 fixed).

I took the car out on a road test and it threw a P0301 / limited power...

Car is really starting to **** me off, I am thinking maybe it needs to relearn air fuel crap after all the part swaps and issues but I guess I will see when I feel like messing with it again.

That is great that you found some issues there and able to fix them and make some things go away. Sucks you still have other problems/issues. I get really frustrated with mine as there are many electrical issues and ghosts somehow. Recently, my car was telling me the passenger side rear door was open (even though closed) and ding all day driving with the interior light constantly on... No issue to be found. Was really to tear into door and replace latch/lock the next day and all of a sudden it fixed itself... Who knows for how long?

Anyway, since you found broken/chewed wire issues then maybe there are more/others. You need to go over the whole car probably to see if there are more/others... Codes may lead you to source. However, after only having mine for a month it was throwing a page full of codes and no starts, etc. Mini dealer had no idea as the problem was intermittent yet with a page of codes... I lucked out and was able to determine the main relay in the engine bay was the problem (not the box or wiring which I was worried was the intermittent issue). Swapped relays and that maddening problem went away. Bought new relay to replace and still all good in that area...

So I got the misfire fixed today after driving it to work today it still ran like crap, decided to pull plugs.

Compared #1 (misfire cylinder) versus #2 and it was char broil black. Swapped it out with a new one and it is running like a champ. Plugs are NGK and were replaced only a couple thousand miles ago but I figure it got fouled out with all the other issues I had.

Either way it is running great so time to sell it right lol
