TheContinental Tire Sports Car Challenge race at Laguna Seca wassuccessful on two fronts for MINI-USA. Firstly the new MINI John Cooper WorksRace Team finished in the top ten in only its second outing. And secondly theMINI-USA Corral that was organized by MotorWerks Magazine was an outstanding success.
Some hardwork by MWM West Coast Editor Norman Nelson and MINI’sown Tonine McGarvie transformed the prime real estate on Laguna Seca’s Islandinto MINI Central for the three-day event. The MINI owners that came out atshort notice were treated to a tour of the teams pit area, had a meet and greetwith Remo Ruscitti, Glenn Nixon, Wei Lu, Zack Meyer, Dan Clarke, and StephenSimpson and were treated to a great display and result by the team.
Spurred on by the success of the Laguna Seca Corral, Nelson,McGarvie and MWM Editor Ian Rae turned the phones red hot and are pleased toannounce that MotorWerksMagazine is bringing you another MINI-USA Corral at thenext round of the CTSCC at Watkins Glen. Conveniently located by the entrancetunnel on Road 2 the trackside Corral will feature a Hospitality tent with aview of the uphill Esses.
Parade Laps are included in your day at the MINI Corral. TheMINI parade lap is scheduled for 11:20, you will need to be in the corralbefore 11:00 Saturday morning to make the procession. Time permitting, a Meetand Greet with the team and autograph session will be held in the Corral tent.Stephen Simpson of the MINI JCW Race team has pencilled that in for between 9and 9:45 on Saturday morning. Lunch on Saturday is provided by MINI USA forCorral attendees. Wrist-bands will be included with your ticket and Corral passat the Will Call window at the ticket office.
The prime mover in organizing the Corrals, Norman Nelson said,“We put on two Corrals when MINI was getting out of racing in 2012, now thatthey are back MotorWerks Magazine is pleased to be working with MINI-USA onputting together more of these great get-togethers. MINI owners are passionateabout their cars and seeing the new F56 JCWs getting into the mix with BMWs andPorsches gets them all excited. We will have more news on upcoming events shortly.”
Tickets for the event can be purchased through Jeff Nelson at (607) 535-3354.A weekend pass is required for Fri-Sun and the specialprice is $65 per driver, a Corral pass for your MINI is $50. Passengers get asuper special ticket price of $55.
