Solo Double Adjustable Trick?
#1
I heard a story a while back and since I think the players are here I'll run it by you for a validity check.
I was told that some of those running H-stock (Nationals) with double adjustable shocks set the rebound so tight that the car would lower itself after a few bumps and the effect was similar to a lowering kit. And after a run the car would slowly rise up an inch or two.
Fun to visualize.....any truth here?

Yes there can be truth to that..... so much rebound the shock never gets back to at rest extention... annother tactic used is to "degass" the shocks... take the nitrogen out.. allowing the car to sit lower by just a very little bit.... Now what me and annother National MINI driver were thinking is why on a stock class MINI would you want the rear lower...???? going lower should give the rear more negative camber .... producing more rear grip... the last thing I need on my HS MINI is more grip in the rear.... I am looking for more rotation not less... BUT a certain National Champion's MINI does seem to sit lower than the rest... even at rest.... did he degass... I think so but I don't understand why???? perhaps he did all 4 and did the rears to avoid a massive front to rear rake... (being lower up front gives more negative camber too but not much and not as much as a similar lowering of the rear)
BTW degassing only works in autocross... at a track event the shock oil will cavitate without the gass pressure in them...
of course I am still on stock shocks... they do surprisingly well... but I still want Konis.
