Mandatory spoiler?

Looks like if I get a 2006 MC with silver roof I’m stuck with what I think is the ugly MC spoiler as it comes with that color roof. I take it under the letter of the rules that I could not remove it for H stock? I can understand why at a National level the rules have to be followed to the letter, but if I switched to an S’s spoiler would I really be gaining any advantage?

Locally, no one will probably care. but if you have national aspirations, you would be illegal and subject to protest.

silver roof??? Ugly! I'd suggest getting some other color roof!

Wait a minute

The more I think about this, how can the spoiler be required when you can order a MC with a white roof and no spoiler, then paint it whatever color you want, including silver, and it would be “legal.”
Very funny YuccaPatrol, I'm also thinking Purple Haze/Silver Roof or Solar Red/Silver Roof. But I'd like to hear from those who know as to the second half of my question too; would the S spoiler really give you any advantage in autocross?

There is no way the MCS spoiler helps in auto-x. There is a slight chance that the spoiler creates downforce, but in auto-x you will not be reaching the necessary speeds to notice this downforce. Like others have said, locally its likely no one will care....but hardcore events might look into your car much closer.

The spoiler might help One of my friends once pointed to the spoiler on his Neon ACR and said, "that spoiler makes 8lbs of down force."

I said, 'Really???'

To which he replied, "Ya, cause that's how much it weighs "

Maybe not

Maybe you don’t have to get the spoiler with the silver roof on the MC afterall – it does not show up that way on the new Mini USA configurator.

The spoiler is required with the silver roof and the MINIUSA configurator has been updated to reflect that. I'm order a stripped '06 and didn't want the spoiler either with the silver roof, but I have no other choice, so i'll get it.

Nooooooooooooooooo

Darn it.

Anyone ever take a MC spoiler off? Can it be done without leaving any marks or holes?

There are two threaded studs that hold the MC and MCS spoilers in place. You will have holes if you remove it that will need to be plugged or patched and painted.

Think of it this way: at least you are not ordering a minivan with a spoiler .
