Anyone want a Hoosier A6 in 245/40/15?

Hey guys, if you want a 245/40/15, email jaspeer@hoosiertire.com and tell him you could use a 245/40/15, I'm going to lobby several other sites and have them email him as well in hopes of getting it done.

thanks for the emails if you send them

Craig Wilcox

below is his response to my request for a 245/40/15.........

Craig,
Thanks for your input. We will consider this as we plan for 2007.
Customer input is very valuable to us, so we appreciate your suggestion.
Currently we do not have any plan yet to offer a new 15" size, but this
may change if the market demands it.
Have a nice holiday season.

Howdy,

Email sent.

What kind of wheel are you getting a 245 on? Man, I love the idea of that size for autoxing if I could get them on a Kosei K-1.

Thanks for the email to Hoosier.

I'm sure you could squeeze them on there OK, I know some 350Z guys were running 275/40/17's on 17x7.5 wheels, so, I'd guess a 245/40/15 would fit on a 15x7 as long as you had a good tire shop I'd guess. You would be much better off with at least a 15x7.5 or 15x8 Rota Slipstream(with spacer, depending on your spacer). Maybe just get two of them for the fronts since you probably wouldn't want that wide of a tire for the rear. Two slipstreams would only cost you $250-275 shipped I think from 18racing.com. I know I'll probably just have some 15x9's custom made to use the entire surface of the tire.

This tire would make a HUGE difference I'd guess on our Mini's.

Hey guys,

The worm seems to be turning. Here's Jeff's response:

Gene,
Thanks for your input. We value our customer's suggestions and will
consider offering this tire for 2007. I will be doing some research on
the need for this size and the cost to produce it.
Thanks for taking the time to contact us.

I got the same response from my email to Jeff. I think Jeff's been replaced by a machine.

I got curious about 245/40-15 tires so I did fast tirerack.com and edgeracing.com searches and found...
Nothing. Doesn't exist.

OK, so whose going to build us a tire that nobody has currently in stock for any reason. Now I'm starting to worry.

Hoosier, if anyone. They may not build us a 245/40/15, but, they will build us a 275/35/17. How many companies have ever built that tire? Hoosier's motto is, if they will come, we will build it!

I read the 275/35/15 post. There don't seem to be any 15 x 9 wheels available? Can I really get that size under a lowered, stock-fendered Mini?

(I know, I'm starting to sound like a broken record.)

If I had my choice between a 245/40-15 and 275/35-15 I'd choose the 245/40. It's less weight/cost and more likely to fit a MINI.

15x9" rims will be Kodiak or other custom design. Eastsidemini has this, not sure which tire he uses but it's very wide. He's got PSS9 coilovers slammed.

15x8 rims not so wide hopefully will be OK, surely 225/45-15 is good. 22.9" tire height should clear the wheel wells even with lowered suspension. Right now I am lowered about 1.75" and near the limit in the rear using 215/45-17 for street use. When using 205/50-15 there is alot of clearance- a much bigger wheel gap. With the right wheel offset, the wider tire will likely be OK.

I've already ran 235/40/17's Yoko Neova's and 225/50/15 V710's, so, a 225/45/15 will easily fit with proper spacers, the inside would be the only issue unless your car is very very low with the incorrect offset. I think the 275/35/15 will require the correct offset to allow for sticking outside the fenders. I'm hoping with the correct ride height, this ultra wide tire will work OK.

Agreed on the 245/40/15.

I have a lot of auto-x experience with the 225/45-15 AS 04, 05, 06 with Kosei K1-TS 15 x 7s, so the 245s ought to definitely work with the right offset and 15 x 8 wheels.

Don't think I'm interested in the 275s. Might pull the wheel out of my hand when putting the power down coming out of a turn.

Since my car is lowered, it'd require ultra precise spacers, and maybe some nibbling.

This is still my daily driver.

Not saying no for certain, but it's not likely.

I spoke with Jeff Speer at Hoosier through email, he said the 275 is the only A6 addition for 2007. Maybe for 2008 they will make a 245. Luckily, with out Mini's, if we do have to nibble a bit on the fenders, the wheel arches will cover this up since the snaps are nowhere near the fender lips. Hopefully with the ultra short sidewall, with proper ride height, we won't have to trim anything, maybe just remove the arches or have temporary competition platic arches that are trimmed.

I've not been one to be reticent to get out on the edge, but this is just a tad too far for me.

Especially since I'll probably only be able to compete in BMW CCA AA class (BMW CCA equivalent of SCCA SM here in Atlanta) this coming year.

Not saying never if you guys make it work, but don't wanta be part of pioneerng this'n.

I was a likely go for the original project. Sorry!

Guess I'll just order a new set of 225/45-50 15s.

Wonder if it'll be 07s, or if they'll stand pat with the 06s?

As far as I know, they are sticking with the A6's. They pretty much nailed it on the A6, its durable and super fast.
