R56 knocking noise

knocking noise
Hi all,
I started getting a knocking noise from what sounds like it's coming from the suspension. It sounds like it's coming from the left front, but passengers in my car said it may also be coming from the rear.
The knock sound occurs when I accelerate abruptly or when I let off the gas abruptly.
I just recently got new suspension work done, and had the mechanic check everything while they worked on it. They couldn't find anything wrong. The knocking noise was there before all the new suspension work was started, so it's not anything they might have left loose.
A couple of months ago, I changed out the the shifting mechanism for a tyrol short shifter, I may not have torqued the transmission bolt to spec. Could this be the culprit? I can't recall whether the sound started around that timeframe.

It sounds like it could be something bushing related. Endlinks are good to check, maybe check bushings on the sway bar itself. I've had bushings deteriorate on my p/s rack before, which caused the rack to shift under me during quick acceleration.

So I finally had time to go back and check my transmission bolt that I loosened when installing the tyrol short shift kit. But no luck, it wasn't that, the bolt was tightened to spec.
Been trying to find threads similar to mine issue, could it be engine mount related? Other areas to check?

That's the one, put on the stiffest setting and never look back. Don't know why I kept it on the middle settings for so long.
