I also used one of these to block off the noisemaker hole. Can't remember the exact size I bought, but it was a PITA to put in, but it and the bolt will not fall out. FYI, make sure the bolt comes through from the inside and the nut is on the outside. That way, if the nut comes loose, it doesn't fall inside your engine.

Here's a cheap way to bead roll your tube. I did mine this way and it's been perfect.

Napa has this part for $3.79. My local store had to order it because it is not a size they carry. The part number is 600-4004 and the name on the box is "Core Hole Plug". The number under the bar code is 19495 57533 7. I installed mine when I was walnut blasting the intake valves and it took a few minutes. I've had it on for a few weeks and have had no issues.
I put in my rebuilt turbo a few days ago and this plug popped out on the highway on my way home tonight. Had to get towed the rest of the way. I'll find another solution....

I ask because I had to use a hydraulic press to get mine in, before I even tightened the nut. I can't imagine this thing popping out. In fact, I've had the charge pipe pop off a couple times until I updated to band-clamps. This thing is still in place.

Was it just a stock turbo?Curious, how much boost were you hitting?

yes I’m interested in the results as well. I’m going to be replacing my turbo as soon as it gets delivered, I have the pre-Intercooler pipe in the way to delete the resonator. I have been looking for a good way to smooth out the air-flow from the other side of the Intercooler to the intake, but have been having trouble finding something that looks effective to me (low cost is a definite bonus)

As for deleting the noise-maker, can a guy just cut a piece of tubing and clamp it in place of the piece that diverts to the noise-maker (like on the other one)? I honestly have no clue if this is possible or not, but seems like it would be a quick and cheap way to go, as opposed to spending $105 which is what that pipe is selling for now. I found another replacement option that costs $230+, and honestly, it looks like a piece of anodized aluminum tubing clamped between two hoses!

Did exactly the same why pay expensive hoses when you can invent the same purpose... Only the looks. Right on!

This is exactly what I did a couple days ago. After replacing my starter and walnut blasting the valves I deleted the noise maker with 2 1/4" exhaust pipe. Very tight at the one elbow but hasn't popped off yet under some spirited short blasts.

It seems like you could leave a piece of the hose going to the noise maker, insert on of these and then put a hose clamp on the tubing as well which would be solid.

I actually made the same insert as the YouTube video. You don’t have to cut anything. Plug and play! For fun (and backup I guess) I capped off the end with a nice heat rated silicone cap. The car sounds more organic now. My mechanic might check the boost level for me. Pulls about the same.
