Here's a photo of the black plastic, version 1. The texture is interesting; very gritty. I'm not complaining as this is light years better than the useless surround on the stock fob. I'd be curious to try the metal at some point.
The Service Key reader reads the round fob section and it's docking shape is same as the radio remote part. Maybe they would have to hold it in upright position while its read.
The last time I took mine in for service I had taken the big round piece off already. I don't remember them having any issues with the reader.
They didn't and they don't care. See the unit can't actually sit in there without falling so they hold it in place anyway. Plus most techs love car mods anyway, even if the advisor hates them.
They look so great!
I'm kinda bummed that I ordered a V1. Anyone have both? My v1 will show up any day so I 'll take it for a spin and can always order a v2!
very very pleased to see these pictures...the coloring is great
FOR ALL,
if you want to remove the v1's do NOT pull at the end.
It will snap off the most delicate part of the fob.
Instead slightly lift the middle flat part out of the key and simultaneous move the end towards the round part out of the key ( where the open button on the key is ).
I have removed mine now about a hunderd times because of testing and redesigning , and its still ok. Perhaps even better because it really snaps in now with a nice "click" sound.
