Looked at the unofficial results and apparently they were not DQ'ed, but parked instead. I posted a full race recap here: http://miniracefan.com/2016/04/30/ra...y-laguna-seca/

Addition of JCW Calipers resulting need for new driving techniques that haven't been mastered yet. Best guess....

I agree...well written!
Those guys are professional drivers, so I doubt having "better brakes" made any trouble for them. although the setups might need to be adjusted a bit. There definitely was more speed in the MINI's this weekend however. That race track probably isn't the best road course for the MINI's either, although better than Daytona & Sebring. Let's face it, the MINI's are probably the best looking car on the track, but they aren't the most aerodynamic! They need more horsepower!
Watkins Glen is a better overall road course than the previous three imo! I might try to drive my JCW up there in July to support the team! :-) I'm about 5 hours from the track. I just don't think IMSA has enough races......missing May & June for having "any" races is ludicrous...that's prime racing season!

I think they've been using the stock S brakes since 2015 and different wheel dia as well (?) .
While not "Professional" driver but have 45 yrs driving experience on and off track.
When I upgraded to JCW brakes it wasn't the same at all requiring different heal toe technique / feel since the new set up was more effective.
Took a bit to get used to. Since next race wasn't until 2nd July, I may have waited.....usually better the devil you know. My 2 cents.

You could be right....let's just hope they get in some good practice time before July 2nd!

I don't know about the race, but in practice they were still having trouble with the brakes locking up on the #52. Supposedly they have to reprogram the ABS to not interfere so much.
As for the lack of races I agree it's a bummer. I'd rather watch the Conti series every week than NASCAR.
I think the major reason for the long break is the 24Hr of Le Mans in June. A lot of the IMSA WeatherTech series teams and drivers go to France to participate. And since the Conti series is a support series for the WeatherTech series they don't often have stand alone events.
Now what all that has to do with the month of May I don't know.
