Hi Steffen,

I believe so! He is running a lot different than prior to the sensor replacement. I am surprised at how different but I guess that shows just how bad the sensor was to begin with.

I have about 35-40 miles on the clock after replacing the sensor and by now the CEL would have come on. So I am hopeful that it did the trick, just want to get some more miles under my belt before I declare victory! Hehe

I forgot, I will post a bunch of pics in your P0340 thread for anyone interested.

No, the engine mount stayed put. But I did remove the engine bracket to gain access to the sensor.

Cant believe the oil in this area from that o-ring leaking… argh…

I don't think it hurts to remove the hood scoop grill, it's not particularly functional anyways...

I swapped the direction indicators and side turn indicators with chrome/clear bulbs and the parking lights (aka position lights) with Ziza LEDs. The passenger side is original while the driver's side has the new stuff in for comparison.
Everything came from ESCTuning.com.
I also cleaned the wheel wells and the back side of all the wheels.

Thanks! They were all super easy to swap. The direction indicators were all genuine Mini parts.
The ZIZA LEDs are way bright!

In the shop for a/c compressor.
Won't engage, and at 13 years old and getting
weaker and noisier before it stopped engaging at all,
might as well do the whole compressor.

It's my own concoction. A couple silicone 90's and a tube going thru the cowl cover and a K&N Apollo filter. I'll be doing a how to for the youtubes this weekend.

Replaced a really dirty air filter today. Also put in new plugs and new plug wires. I had a new ignition coil to put in but when I took it out of the box one of the posts was cracked. The replacement is due on Friday.

I should have mentioned this car is new to me. I would never abuse a mini this way. I've spent the last 2 weeks cleaning, fixing, and doing maintenance on it. Tomorrow is an oil change because I have no idea when the oil was last changed.

I figured you wouldn't have let the car get that bad! But I am sure the car is really happy to have you taking care of him/her. Let us know how the oil change goes!

Oil filter came loose easy. I didn't take it off just checked if I could turn it. Oil plug on the other hand was rounded before I started and now it's more rounded. I need to get another plug before I commit to getting it off.

Good times with a stripped oil plug.

If you have additional troubles, this set works really well at extractor the bolt.

Been there, done that. Used what CooperSAZ suggests, but rounded it even more. Ended up with vice grips tightened on as tight as possible. Finally came out.

Good Luck,

Nik

Stuck OEM drain plugs seem to be common on these cars... probably because of the integrated rubber washer. After I had the problem, I replaced it with a magnetic drain plug and washer from the local auto parts store.

I tried a fumoto valve, but the valve ended up pressing against the power steering fan bracket. I thought the pressure would eventually cause it to break off so I removed it. Not sure how others were able to install one... maybe the starting points of the threads vary which affect the final positioning of the valve mechanism.

shade

I read somewhere here the the small sun shade works for the forward sunroof, and yes it does----added one today, also changed the air filter out and readjusted the rear hatch latch to eliminate the rattles coming from the hatch door. I also tried the Turtle fog kit to reduce the left rear tail light lens foggy look and after 2 hours I believe the tail light lens are worse than when I started. I think I will try Maguires next time.

Slowly getting back to trusting Barnaby as an everyday daily driver. I have been babying him for a few weeks and have been getting 24 MPG average and no overheating issues. I may not have to sell him after all!
