Intro BRG

Hi, my wife and I just picked up her brand new (to her) '06 MCS R52 in British Racing Green--which was the only way she would have it. It became a nation wide search and landed us near a small independent dealer near Kansas City. We flew down on Saturday morning and drove her home to Chicago over the weekend. It need a bit of work and a good detailing but overall she's in great shape especially considering the age and milage, 118k. From the dealer it was a quick trip into KC for BBQ and then a thorough 700 mile shakedown run. The Mini handled some wild twisties along the Missouri River, the streets of St Louis, the shores of the Missiissippi on the Illinois side and then later I-55 where she cruised with traffic (speed limit 70 mph) and then some more but we're not gonna say how much more. There are some things that need work and some things that could be improved but overall we're delighted with the Mini.

My personal cars are manual but the Steptronic is nice. The car has giddy up and it handles beautifully. An absolute blast to drive. For something with four seats and a soft top I'm not sure I'd want anything else. For a car that both my wife and I can enjoy, drive around town or on a long trip, take to Costco, shuttle the girls or just cruise for the fun of it, we feel we've made an excellent choice.

I've been lurking the forum for a few weeks. Thanks to all who have contributed. It's a wonderful resource.

My wife can't get over the color. The green is absolutely beautiful. Pictures don't do it justice. It's a lovely rich color and sparkles with metallics in the paint.

The Mini design especially these R52s are beautiful. Does anyone else get the feeling that almost every other car seems ordinary?

More pics to follow. Paint needs some work.

BRG my favorite color. Looks like a great find! Yes, most any other car is ordinary, although driving my 1988 Fiero Formula V6 comes close. When that engine comes to life right behind your head is definitely special. Still, owned a '67 Cooper S, two race cars and now an '04 R53, so guess I'm hooked.

Drive Hard. Drive Safe. Keep Grinning.
