The plastic gutter that runs along the base of the windshield on my 2015 F56 has begun to disintegrate. It started out just fading from a glossy black to a matte grey color, but now it's starting to dissolve and can be easily scratched away like a Lotto ticket scratcher. I notice when it gets wet, the plastic strangely seems to absorb the moisture.

None of the other trim or plastic on my car is this horrible. I've used a plastic protectant to keep everything looking brand new. I truly feel Mini used a very poor grade plastic on this area. The car is only a year old and this plastic is already disintegrating. Even my 2010 Mini after 5 years was only lightly discolored. I keep my car looking absolutely pristine, so this gross faded and worn piece of plastic area looks horrid.

Anyway... I feel it's too late to "save" this with any plastic treatment products. Has anyone had it replaced or know of that piece being available for sale?

I have not taken it to Mini yet, but surely will.

If you're still under warranty then just complain to the dealer. They should replace it for free.

 

I read about this in another thread and many have used Black Wow to prevent the discoloration/UV damage.
