Least I can say with this car... one issue after another. Soooo..... the clutch went out. LMFAO.
After changing the water pump with that fine piece from Mini Mania, took it for a quick drive around the block and started slipping. Gears not biting right away, clutch pedal vibrating, and a god-awful groaning sound when I gave it gas. Perfect... looking forward to a big job.
What clutch to get? Since I'll have the car on service mode, might as well change out the oil feed line and the water pipe behind the water pump. I can't believe why they used plastic for it. SMH. Any indications to find out if the thermostat wants to break as well?
So if I could get a link on the clutch, water pipe + o ring, and whatever else is a good idea to replace while I'm in there, will be much appreciated.
Took off the downpipe to work on the leaking oil line. I've been getting the dreaded 2885 code which I've read points to the wastegate. How should these things behave normally? It's open and loose. I could post a video of me jiggling it with my finger. Lol
Finally found time to work on the car again. Drive axles are out and everything else attached to the transmission. Could someone kindly direct me to procedure for subframe removal? Been following pelican parts tech articles but only show R53 for subframe.
Why do you need to remove subframe? At this point you should be able to pull the assembly out. Hopefully the nose is out of the way!
Was following diy tech info @ pelican parts. I was wondering if subframe removal is indeed a necessary step. The nose is off now. Lol. Took a break to take a pic.
Yep. That's it. Stap the engine and pull it out. Make sure to free the ac line at the compressor and the free the starter and the cables to the alternator.

Well this is a first... Green fluid started dripping out when I loosened the bottom bolt of the starter. Is that normal on these cars?
Nothing is normal when fluids start coming out of the car. on top of the started is a water pipe and is known to leak either from the pump side or the thermostat housing side. Prepare to replace it.

I have the thermostat housing and the pipe off already since it was leaking from the pump side. Probably seeped in there when coolant spilled over the place when I took them off. The green color threw me off. Makes sense to be coolant though... previous owner had yellow coolant in there. Yellow+ blue = green. Lol
Should have processed in my mind first before I posted. Lol

All this rain doesn't help. Makes me lazy to do any work. And since I don't have access to a crane or garage roof rafters (from the thread i read on here) to support the engine and tranny from above, behold... my rig. Lol
Finally got the transmission out. Had to lower the subframe a bit to clear but didn't take it off all the way.
Back then i went to pepboys and the guy had me use royal purple w75. You can shop at rmeuropen.com and get manual trans fliud. Probably cheaper and more oem than royal purple
