Big Brake kit for 16" wheels?
Is there a front big brake kit available that will work with factory 16" wheels? I have a set of R53 16" wheels on my Clubman for winter use. I'd like to get a brake kit for better feel, but they would need to fit under my winter set up.
Even better would be a Big Caliper kit that will work with stock rotors...

Just about every BBK for the second gen needs 17" wheels.
For better feel replace the brake fluid and get stainless steel braided brake lines. I went from the standard Cooper S brakes to the JCW R56 big brakes. Pedal feel was damn near identical, the stopping distance just decreases because you have more surface area to make pad/rotor contact and dissipate heat.

They wouldn't be that big then would they? :P

I saw those, and the kit is what prompted the question. I wanted to hear if they came up as recommended or not.

The only kicker being spoke clearance. They will need to be "brake friendly" in that there is ample pocket space.
The 11.75 will lower the radius a tad if needed and can be had in all the same flavors: rotor finishes, colors etc etc..

Are you referring to the 4-piston JCW brakes?

That's cool. I can deal with running spacers, if needed.
What's the deal with your TCE Front Caliper kit? Does that work with the stock 2012 Cooper S rotors?

The Wilwood 11.75 and 12.2" kits will fit up to 16" wheels.

Given it's fit to the 316mm disc I think the problem is OD. That's 12.4" and that's not going to do the 16" wheel...you'll need 17s.
The 16 will hold you back on a lot of brake options. But...given the value of the 12.2" DPR kits it's pretty tough to argue against them. Listed as four corner kits for as low as $1733 and of course they can be had single axle for as well.

I don't have the stock rotor spec in hand...but the two hats are in the .260-.300" range. Making any change (if any) very very small.

Ok, I see there is a wilwood caliper only but states fits only stock 316 rotors, but only the JCW came with that size, so us 2nd Gen S guys would need the rotors anyway , right ?

Our caliper kits only fit the 316mm disc, be it stock with your year of production or a size you need to purchase to complete the installation. At this point I don't remember which cars had which stock, the first gen cars all had the smaller 269 I think it was.
By the time you buy a caliper kit, and new rotors however you're better off simply purchasing the complete 12.2" BBK unless you just gotta have the sexy DP6 model caliper.
