2011 Cooper Thermostat

I'm working on a friend's 2011 (08/2010 production date) normally aspirated Cooper. We're getting a code (don't recall it) that said the thermostat had failed. So I purchased another one but it's not right. Under his hood looks like this with a separate temp sensor in a hose elbow and a single connector on the thermostat housing for the actuator:

I bought this one which is the only one I've been able to find:

It has this connector on top for the sensor, with a DIFFERENT plug than what's on the existing one and a DIFFERENT plug down below for the actuator.

I found some other thread saying "order a different housing" but I can't find one that is like this old one. If someone has a PN that would help but all the images I find at 3rd party sites like Rock Auto and AutoZone as well as those on the Mini sites show the same as the one I have.

I've also seen some references to a "cable" that will (I guess) match up this new style housing with the old wiring plugs but I can't locate that for sure in order to order one.

Thanks in advance for any assistance!!

Yes, see here on the newest thermostat 11537534521 ( make sure that's the part) you will need the updated plug ( 12517646145 ) and it uses the temp sensor in the thermostat. The old sensor/elbow you just leave it alone.

Thanks! That's exactly what I was looking for. I suspected there was some sort of adapter but it was unclear about the part number.
