Still a problem after replacing fuel pump?!
Alright guys and gals,
i have a 2007 r56 MCS. Recently, if you look at my other started treads you will see, that I have been having issues with starting my mini up in the mornings.
My local Mini-specialist shop said that it was most likely the HPFP. I consider myself mechanically inclined, so I bought the HPFP and installed it myself. Everything went smoothly, I had no problems with the install at all. When I went to start it up after clearin the codes, BAM the half engine power light came on.
Also, keep in mind that it started up first try after sitting for 2 weeks, it never did that until I replaced the HPFP. The car idles perfectly, nothing sounds or acts funny.
Does anyone know what this could possibly be??? All suggestions are appreciated!
Thanks!
Tyler

No CELs and no codes at all. Before I changed the pump out I had misfire codes and the car would idle really rough. Now it idles fine but while driving only half power. I haven't change the coil's in a long time they probably need to be changed, but at the same time it would be weird for a coil to be bad without misfire codes.
Thanks for for the reply btw

how is it when you are on boost? another thing to consider is the bypass valve on the turbo. if the diaphragm is torn that would cause issues. from what i've read, however, you need a replacement on hand if you plan to check it since it needs to be replaced if the diaphragm is broken and you can't just put the old one back in.

this is a picture of an aftermarket replacement, its the part with the 3 screws. you can just get an oem part and replace it, it has an electrical connector. you can do it with allen wrenches in your garage with a little patience.

Ok thanks again for the advice! I'm gonna go ahead and replace the DV. I'll report back when I've done that.

confirm that your HPFP is plugged correctly. also, since you did the work yourself, check the little hoses going to the vacuum pump and the turbo.
i once for got the little hose going to the turbo and it took me a while to discover the issue...lol but i noticed when i rev the car i dont hear the waste gate.

yeah it sure is weird. I'm just waiting for my parts to arrive from ECS Tuning (they're great btw I highly recommend them for their prices, customer service, and speed of shipping). I bought a diverter valve and all four coils to replace. We will see if it helps after installing them.

I haven't scoped the valves yet, would I need to change the intake manifold gasket when I do? Wouldn't the misfires be showing as readable codes? I've read misfire codes in the past, but at the moment I'm still showing up 0 codes
