Seriously, delay sucks. Besides, I am eager to hear about your experience with the Elite.

Got the same email, probably sold more than they expected. I've learned the art of patience.

In America, liability must be established in court. There is no law that says because a car is modified there is a legal problem if there is an accident.

Liability is based on "fault." If it could be shown that, becasue of a modification to the car an accident was caused or the accident was worse becasue of the mod, there might be increased liability.

Insurance companies that provide risk insurance in the event an insured is found liable for damages do often have language buried deeply in their policies that give all sorts of ways out of paying claims.

But the underlying principle is that modifications, de facto, do not void warranties or cause automatic liability or void insurance. Cause and effect must be litigated in such instances.

Another interesting consideration would be type of tuning mod. If the ECU/DME is internally changed (reprogrammed) then a manufacturer or a court could find that the person who did the modification messed with the internal engine management programming (actually altered the program) whereas a plug in box that "tricks" the DME isn't altering the engine management software. Fine point of difference. But, lets say a car suddenly accelerates and it is claimed that an ECU flash messed up the drive-by-wire software program. Whereas a plug in box that tricks a car into thinking more boost is needed to hit unaltered internal ECU/DME parameters..... glad I ain't a lawyer.

Life is not without risk. Putting on a tune of any kind should be done with a caveat emptor approach. You pays your money and you takes your chances.

Thanks for that complete answer

Patience is, I'll be fine when it gets here. It took me 50+ years to mellow out about things I can't control. I used to be a terror about too much nonsense!

Just add some stickers to your Mini. Remember they are good for 5hp each. That should give you enough HP until the Eilte gets there

You can talk about Religion in Off Topic. Politics, until guidelines change are off limits.

Our major accidents are strictly from stupidity, and drunk drivers.
We should make breathalyzers mandatory like France!!!

After you pass 70 (not MPH) you tend to think in shorter terms and don't want to waste any more time than absolutely necessary.

On a lighter note. I just got another email from ECS with a tracking number! Expected delivery, Pearl Harbor Day.
WooHoo!

Vetsvette and Moocher -- Religion and politics aside, glad to hear your boxes are on the way. Can't wait to hear the reports.

Don't forget though, you're gonna have to give blood or the Elites won't work. The machines must be fed.

I once did a training for people working in oncology. They got tweaked with me when I stressed the importance of seeing patients at their appointment time. I got push back, including some legit comments about needing to take as much time as was necessary to ensure quality of care for every patient -- needing to take the time to answer questions and offer support, etc. This often causes things to run late. Had to agree, but I did point out that, as we get older, and/or are staring the Grim Reaper eyeball to eyeball, those remaining heartbeats have a way of becoming more valuable to a person who knows he/she doesn't have many good ones left.

Which is why we drive fun cars.... with tuning boxes

Dinan recommends disconnecting the battery once the DME is asleep.

Ok
This is not at all like the Sport.
The Sport is a one trick pony, it kicks hard at first, then that’s it.
The Elite doesnt do that it’s very linear, at first you think, not impressed,
but come to realize it doesn’t stop.
I was mostly amazed at the pull between 60 and 100
mph.
Be aware it takes 15 or so miles for the DME
to initially set its parameters after installl.

Where I’m bummed out is the Auto trans programming
needs help. It’s prigrammed for the basic power.
Feels like short shifts before the sweet spot.
But manual mode is well appreciated.

AND the bypass module fits in my hidden glove box!!!

Kudos on the review, you didn't use the word "smooth".

I don't track gas mileage, but I'd be curious to know if the Elite vs. the Sport saves a bit on gas. I know with my Sport the gas seems to fly out of the tank.

I hope for a bloodless install as well.

First thing I noticed in the picture is the hard surface battery cover you have. Mine is some sort of fabric cover. On the plus side, velcro sticks to the fabric surface.
