I recently purchased a 2008 Cooper S with 56k, I'm from the New England area. Looking forward to replacing the clutch and getting it back on the road!

Welcome to NAM.

Pictures are always good. With that year, you are aware of the N14 motor, correct?

I'm aware that is has the N14 motor, are there any flaws in the year that I should be on the lookout for? I am planning on the replacing the stage 1 tensioner with the stage 2 tensioner when I have the motor and transmission out.

Welcome to the forum and MINI ownership. Great looking car. Good luck with the repairs to get it on the road.

Thank you, I'm not fretting it much. Can get just about anything done with a shop and good tools!

Lots of threads here on the N14. Biggest thing is to change the oil every 5,000 miles and then remember to change the oil every 5,000. If you cannot be sure when the oil was changed last before you bought the car, change the oil. Also check to see if the chain tensioner was replaced.

The engine also has carbon build up with a normal cleaning cycle every 30-35k miles.

Welcome. Nice PW R56 w/ Webspokes. Check your oil all the time on the N14 and change it often, do it about 5K.

Thanks for the advice fellas. I ordered a new tensioner for the car while I have it all apart and I will be sure to keep an eye on the oil.
