sweet, that sounds about right! i'm trying to find the summer set I want and put a few last minute miles on them before i buy some winters for the wheels that I have now. I've got the stock black bullet wheels, but something about the combo with rft and my city roads makes them easy to dent.
507.6 averaging 39.5. Nothing to be too proud of. Probably the last one for the year since I put my steelies and snow tires on last night. Snow forecasted for this weekend!
502.0 averaging 40.6. Barely squeaked that one out! It took me a while to get started this year since I had a broken foot and couldn't drive for three months!
I seem to be the only one in this club anymore! I had a great tank yesterday. 552.7 miles, averaging 43.9 mpg, with 32 miles left. Mostly rural two lanes, with a few 80 mph highway miles mixed in.
533.3 today, averaging 42.2 mpg. I had a 500.0 mile tank last time with under 40 mpg that I didn't bother with...poor mileage due to driving to/from Minis on the Mack.
I got to 458 with 31 left on the range meter before I filled up. Close but no cigar. I started at 6,000 feet, went up to ~7,200, then down to about sea level so I was setting the odds a bit in my favor. Don't know if an MCS will ever get to 500, but it can get close.
I get great mileage when I stay off the highway, and my job allows that since I visit a lot of rural communities. I bet you (squawskibum) could do it in an S if it was two lane roads and you kept it on 60...but it would feel like 1000 miles with those limitations! The best I ever got was 635 driving across (and back) Michigan's UP (Upper Peninsula) where the speed limit was all 55.
601.2 miles averaging 45.3 mpg with 2 miles left on the computer. My second best ever and only the second time I've passed 600 miles. Lots of rural 55 mph rural roads (put the cruise on 60). Some city driving thrown in the mix. Best tank was five or six years ago when I hit 635 miles.
Another without trying...506.0 at 40.7 mpg. This one even included some 85 mph highway driving. The car actually seems to be getting better mileage the older it gets...97,000 miles.
I just took a 2,500 mile road trip from Michigan to Texas and back and thought I'd keep track of the mileage. First tank the trip odometer read 511.3 averaging 69 mph and 43.3 mpg; second tank total mileage 1,017.6, 69.2 mpg, and 42.1 mpg; and trip ending at 1,245 averaging 68.6 mph and 41.9 mpg for the trip (two 500 mile+ tanks). I filled up before the return trip. First tank 505.4 averaging 42.8 mpg and 75.3 mpg; second tank 1,010.3 miles averaging 42.6 mpg and 76.3 mph; and finished off the trip at 1,195.8 miles and a total of 42.1 mpg and 76.1 mph. On the way down I spent the night, on the way back I went 17 hours and just knocked it out. Also, my Mini turned over 100,000 miles on the return trip just west of Texarkana! Cleaning all of the bugs off today.
First 500 mile tank of the year since taking off the snow tires...501.2 miles with 58 miles left in the tank averaging 40.0 mpg. Lots of highway, some city, and a little rural two-lane. Mini now has about 112,000 miles on the odometer.
