Walnut Shell-blasting in SoCal @ LTBMW

A very good friend of mine owns a shop in El Monte, CA and had worked, previously on, my BMW, and now on my Mini. If there was anything I needed, absolutely anything, he got it for me.

Well, with my MCS now at 44k miles, I figured it was time to get this done. For all the direct injected, turbocharged Mini's, this is a must.

So I contacted my friend, Long, and he has said that he will now offer a groupbuy price on this service.

The service will be for $350 AND he will offer a 1-day car rental via Enterprise Rent-A-Car!!!!

To make this happen, Long requires 10 individuals to commit to the service. Please copy & paste your username below to the position you are in the groupbuy!

Current list:

1. J (Duke)
2. Ketchupfreak
3. bboy8282
4. OEM99
5. Tim on NAM
6. jyeah
7. 2turbodinan

Following the 10, I will pm the first 10 individuals to confirm your commitment to the groupbuy/service and have you scheduled to get the service done at the shop.

If there are more individuals that want to get the service done post 10, I will schedule for 11-20, so on and so forth.

Just throwing this up here again. I'm not sure why there hasn't been any interest in anyone getting this type of service done.

I've had this posted on E90Post.com and have had at least 20 people pm me for this service. It only makes sense to get this kinda service done if your turbo-charged.

Let me know if anyone is interested in this service. Cheers.

So the groupbuy has shown success over on the BMW side with a bunch of turbo guys getting the service done. 10 have been met on the BMW side, seeing if anyone on the MINI side wants to get this done.

NAM member, my1stR56, is getting it done today.

Groupbuy pricing is now $350 for 10 cars. Let me know whose interested...

Sounds good. I'm sure it'll take a bit of time to hit the 10 for the groupbuy. Just let me know.

A lot of guys on e90post believe in Long's great reputation and while on their trip through LA, they just have to stop by the shop and meet the guy. He really is more than just a shop owner and enthusiast, he's a legitimate good guy always trying to help you out with absolutely anything you need.

So if no one gets this service done, it's always worth a shot asking him for parts, accessories, or just basic car knowledge.

I don't know how many times I would say "I'm thinking of getting 'x item'". A couple of days later he has it for me.

There was a time when the mtech front bumper was EU only, I wanted it so badly, sure it cost $2k just for that front bumper, but I wanted it so bad, because it would separate me from the crowd of common splitters/lips on the E92 335i. He had one in storage he had imported from Canada. Ask, and he delivers

I do want to get this done, however funds are a bit lacking atm. I like the price your buddy offers, but your price of $700-1500 avg seems high. Mini of Monrovia quoted me $400-500 last time i was in.

I'll definitely give you a buzz when i'm ready to do this though.

That may be what MINI of Monrovia quoted you, but I just talked to my friend on Monday when he was at South Bay MINI and he was quoted $1000, not including time allotted for the service.

Another case, New Century BMW. I had one guy shoot me an e-mail saying he wanted to be part of the groupbuy, he told me NCBMW was also able to perform the walnut shell blasting for $1000 and $500 for the hours necessary to get the job done, so $1500.

I have no reason to exaggerate these numbers. MINI of Monrovia may have quoted you for $400-500, but I'd like to know what they'd quote you now. I've been to that dealership several times, I just don't like the vibe I get there whenever I'm there. Which is why I was willing to drive to Irvine MINI to get my MINI. But that's another subject all in itself...

Nah, wasn't saying you were exaggerating, just that it seemed high. James at MOM has actually treated me very well. I have no complaints from them. James quoted me a few months back. Next time when i'm there to have my sparkplugs changed (ext maint pkg) i'll ask him what the charge is again. This is in approx. 1500 miles.

When is the next session for this? I'm having some nasty backfire when i get on the car just after having my injectors cleaned. A week prior, Mini just did an oil change and spark plugs.

So i called up Long earlier this morning to see what the pricing was and when i could drop it by......

RA doesn't exaggerate LTBMW at all! Long was very personable as well one of his mechanics Ivan...? Anyways, i called at 9. Dropped the car off at 11:40 and was back at my office with a rental for the day by 1:00.

To top it off, he gave me the group buy price as well.

So far, this guy has blown my sox off with his customer service and i'd recommend him to anyone.

Now, I'm hoping this cleaning is going to fix the problem I have and not turn out to be anything else.

Nice. Glad it's worked out for you. Long and Ivan will always try to take care of my MINI folks that I send their way, so that's fantastic.

Hopefully this fixes your issues. If you need anything else, these guys can get it. :D
