I am getting ready to order an 07 and am looking for a dealership in the SoCal area that doesn't slap on a markup. Brecht MINI here in Escondido is marking up by 15% for 07.

Anyone ?
Call Motoring Advisor Robert Mathews at East Bay Mini in Pleasanton CA. They sell straight MSRP and have excellent customer service. 925 251-7063 is his direct line.
Tom
The markup is just taking advantage of the situation, total and complete greed. Hopefully Long Beach & South Bay won't change their approach to selling the cars at M.S.R.P.
I'd have a choice of buying through Baron or Schomp here in Denver. Is Baron that much better?
Also, I'm new to buying MINIs. I've had two Mazdas that I bought for about $5k under MSRP. Should I expect that the new MINI will go for MSRP for the forseeable future?
I went through the same thing as you. I live in San Diego and I ended up getting my Mini from Irvine. Call Irvine (Lizandro) he was great. No mark up. They had a "Dealer Package" that they offered and since some of my chosen options for my mini was in this package, they worked around it. Brecht just straight out said $4000.00 mark up for nothing because it was the only Mini dealer in the county. It was worth the drive and time, especially the long drive home in my new Mini!

I went to Schomp during MITM. They gave us great personal service when we went in for
service. Being your local dealer it should be a benifit to purchase from them if they treat you right. However Baron has been excellent for us.
As an MSRP dealership we value our customer’s opinions and concerns. This is what had kept us among the largest and fastest growing MINI dealerships in the country.
Bob Smith Mini in Calabasas still mark up Cooper's at 2k and S's at 3k. This is non negotiable and guess what, people still buy them there!

To answer your question. I bought mine at Mini of Universal City. I was generally pleased with them, nothing bad to say, I used Jay in the Internet Sales department. I paid MSRP.

Dont go to south bay... they have the worst customer service. They don't call back at all. My MA was a guy named Chris Yuseco or something. I would leave him messages, never called back. I wanted to add some more options before the deadline, but never called back. I spoke with managers from different departments and then I received 1 call back. During our conversation, he was supposed to find out some more information and call me back, but never got a call back. Therefore, after all that waiting for my car to arrive, I got so ****'d off that I went there and cancelled my order. I ended up getting another car all together. South Bay is nice when there selling you the car... but once you put in your deposit... its bye bye... no call backs or anything. Go to Long Beach

That's not much. When Brecht first opened (several months after most MINI dealers), they were demanding (and getting) $ 6,000 over list for a MINI Cooper S. They didn't get it from me. I went to Long Beach Mini and got it for list - but I had to wait a year...
