Manually raise window

My window is stuck in the down position and I would like to get it closed. It has to be the motor stuck as I can hear a relay click when I move the switch. I've tried the old "hit the door" method but it is stuck.

Is there something I could disconnect to release the tension of the motor so the window will slide?

Take the DP off and tap lightly on the motor with a small hammer, if that doesn't work, tap harder!

IF all else fails, you can unbolt the window from the regulator when in the full down position through the inside of the door.

before takinf off the door panel give it a couple of good taps on top of the speaker, thats where the motor is. hopefully this will free it and you can use the window for the moment.

if that doesn't work then take off the door panel and give it some more taps with a rubber malett.
good luck!

Thanks. I found the screws you mentioned. I'll have to pick up a smaller allen wrench tomorrow to get them removed.

I believe the motor is completely dead. No amount of taping would get it to move.

Sorry to hear about this, SB. Good luck getting it fixed. I'd just do my best to get it to the dealer asap and not mess with it myself. . .

Mine has had issues with power window motors on both sides on seperate occations. Needed new motor each time, replaced under warranty.

On a side note, is it possible to convert the windows to crank windows? What about a crank-electric hybrid wherein you can use the crank if you want or the switch? Would be cool I think.

I have found the motors for $89.95 but how labor intensive is it to DIY? What type of wrench do you use to remove the bolts from the door panel??

I fiddled with it but seeing as the way to replace the motor included starting with it in the up position. It was beyond me. I was finally able to get it to the dealer, got a loaner, and got it back several days later. The motor and regulator went out. The regulator was why the beat on the door method didn't work I assume.

Luckily my window is currently in the up position. Seeing that you live in Hville, do you go to Nashville or Atlanta to get your serviced? I am in Gadsden and I go to Global Imports in Atlanta but I am out of warranty now.
