I want to put my toddler in the front seat cuz its just easier and she enjoys it but I dont trust the mini light. My airbag light is always on so that means the airbag is off, right? So does that mean it will not deploy in a wreck? My moms car has a switch to turn the airbag on and off but the mini doesn't so I'm nervous of putting the carseat in the front. Any help would be awesome!
Thanks! 02 MCS

I think getting this tool is a great idea. However, please make sure you don't have this problem: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...mpartment.html. If the light comes back on after you do a reset, there is definitely something amiss in the air bag circuit.

About a month ago I had this same problem with my 06-MCSa, start Mini, #2 air bag light comes on. Light would stay on for a few miles and some time go out while driving. I looked in the owners manual to try and figure out if I could fix this problem. "Take it to the dealers" was about all I could find.
I had to take my daughter over to Orlando to get her drivers license on a Friday so I thought, hay, this is a good time to hit the Mini dealers and see about this Air Bag Light!
After the daughter getting her license, "gee that was fast", we headed out for the dealers. It's about an hour ride for us to the mini dealer from our house. Got to the dealers and told him my story about the light being on, he said, we need to put it on the DM to find out what the problem is, that will be $68.00 and I can't get you in until next week. O.K., see you next week!.
The following Monday bright and early I pulled into the Mini dealers for my appointment and they took my Mini in right away.
After sitting in the lounge for about two hours, the repair manager came out call my name, George, George, over here, over here I replyed. Well, I have some good news and some bad!, the good news is we have the part you need in stock, the bad is the cost!, it is the seat weight sencer, and with the part and install, it will come to $1,160.00. " You want it installed?".

Well, the lights out and we feel "safe" again!.

Yeah, that's the other issue. Do a search in the forum for "seat sensor" to read up more about that problem. This specific article seems to explain the reasons to the cost, as well as dealing with the fault if you decide not to fix it: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...at-switch.html.

Are you offering a loan/rental of your scan tool?

My main airbag light is on suddenly today -- start her up, windows won't roll down. Shut off and restart a few times; something resets the windows but the airbag light is still on....

pardon the possible ignorance, but you can still drive the car with the fault light on, correct?

You can drive it, but the car may not be able to crash correctly.

Yes, you can still drive the car if the airbag warning lights are on. You will want to read this thread. https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...t-no-more.html
