Stock Problems/IssuesDiscussions related to warranty related issues and repairs, or other problems with the OEM parts and software for MINI Cooper (R50), Cabrio (R52), and Cooper S (R53) MINIs.
Well after looking at my mini next to another mini I noticed I was missing a part in the right strut tower. I quickly asked him if it was an aftermarket part and he replied no . Am I missing a part of my car? please help!
You didn't say what year your MINI was, but my 2006 looks the same as yours. The motor mounts were changed in 2005 to a different style than the earlier cars.
Starting to look like im missing a engine mount . So what would be the dangers of driving without one of those? I have already but five thousand miles with no problems. If dangerous where can I find a replacement part.
It appears that your car has the later-style passenger-side upper motor mount that's usually only found on 2005 and later cars. Perhaps the change was a mid-year transition, or the MC40 got the new engine mount before the regular production cars (kind of like the GP getting the new 14mm lug bolts and Euro Boost stereo head unit before the rest of the cars).
The mount you have is under the huge curved aluminum piece in your first picture. From where you put the red arrow, look below it ("below" in the picture, not "below" in the engine bay). That big aluminum piece attaches to the top of the motor mount, and can see the silver bracket that extends rearward from the lower part of the motor mount.

so no worrys then? I can drive in peace thanks for all the speedy replies.
Is there anything I can use those two tapped holes for? Engine dampener or a occ?
No worries.
I've got an early '04 (October '03), my friend has (had) a later '04 (April?)
I've got the old mount, he's got the new one.
Don't worry about tapped holes - many changes happen over the years - no sense re-jigging the process unnecessarily.
Does this mean that when your hydraulic motor mount goes bad you can replace it with an older one from a junker? Thus far all the bad ones have been fixed on warranty.

I have fitted an engine stabiliser that attaches there.
