R56-S GROWLING NOISE

Well my car developed a manual transmission oil leak at 2,500 miles. Power shaft seal was replaced at dealer. Immediately I felt a growling noise when you change gears and while maintaining some speed with the clutch released. It felt like roadnoise but it ceases when you depress the clutch and coast so actually it must be related to engine and or transmission. Sounds like a leaking exhaust system growl, but that was already checked by the dealer. I know it must be related with the removal or installation of the transmission because it started immediately after the seal replacement was done, which obviously carries the transmission removal. Anybody out there have any idea of what could be causing the noise ??
Tks, mini07

Sounds like the main power shaft no longer has the proper clearances causing a groan under no load conditions (excessive backlash). They may have left out a shim during the seal r&r.
