i am looking at three different 03 minis. all are s models. two have already had the clutch problems fixed. could someone please let me know of any other "known" problems that these cars had. i am aware of the coolant fan and the power steering problems. anything else? the cars in question are out of warranty so i would like to be prepared as far as future repair bills go. thanks a million! ANY info and/or advice would be appreciated.

cheers

Like any car, there are so many variables.. Its hard to say what MIGHT happen. There are an uncountable amount of KNOWN problems, but that doesnt mean any of the cars u buy will have them.

However... the power window motors tend to fail at some point on alot of minis from 2002 - 2004. The motors were replaced later on in manufacturing, and they seem to function better.
I had mine changed a long time ago and haven't had any more issues.

Just use your best judgement and you'll surely get the right car.

Question

Ask to see the repair slips to make sure that all of the recall work was done. I was really good about making them do the recall work. It was a full-time job to sit on them to make sure stuff was done right.

There were way too many things on my 03 that have been fixed even to describe it to you. Check the repair slips. Good luck!

Fact Recall List?

You brought up a good point in your post about factory recalls. Is there an internet list or posting available of the factory recalls?

To date I only know of two recalls that my dealership fixed. They replaced the underhood insulation (I didn't ask why) and they replaced the lever on the seat to bring it forward while people are getting (or trying to) get into the back seat.

If anyone can, please post the factory recall list, or where to find it.

I did find this site after I posted the recall request. 2002 according to this site was a pretty good year. Only 2 recalls listed.
