Seems to pop a lot around the 3000rpm range. Is the '05-up popping quite a bit more noticable than this? Do I just have a 'special' car? My car is bone stock, and here's a link if you're curious:

Yup. Now that I've been made aware of this noise since I opened this thread, I have noticed it more and more. It seems to pop HEAPS between the 2000 - 3000 band in EVERY gear.

my late 06 pops non stop

when a tin can cheese modified rice burner pulls up and razz's, so long as my engine is all hot and happy, my car burbles and pops with glee..... they look at me shocked.
MCS noise pimps I can't imagine what a jcw exhaust would sound like. I hear it can be annoying though on long trips with the droning.

I think if you're gonna put your cooper on you tube you should wash it first. Still love the sound.

lol

If I lived someplace other than Alaska, I'd stay on top of keeping my MCS spotless. It's fairly pointless this time of year - you spend the time to wash, polish, and wax the Cooper (which I did over the long weekend...it looks stunning!)...then it rains. Drive it in the rain, and the grime from the (predominantly dirt or otherwise non-pavement) roads get all over it. Believe me, I'm a neat freak and this drives me insane. It took me many years to get over washing my cars on a DAILY basis. Waste of time, I'd rather be motoring! At least I keep the interior spotless, which is a lot more than the other 5 MINI owners in this town do.

And yes. I love the sound! It pops a bit more than the other '04 MCS in town. I'm happy as long as this isn't an indication of something else going wrong.
