CVT intermittantly weak in reverse...?

After driving for 30 minutes or more and after parking the car, when I put the selector in reverse, there is no feeling of engagement-and if I back up in that state, the trans grabs on and off, causing a jumpy action. So, I have experimented with moving the selector back and forth between drive and reverse until it finally feels like it engages in reverse(enough pressure to act normally), then I back up without incident. Does anyone have any clues? -Jeffy.

Jeff, I would have the adaptations cleared and relearned on that car after the trans fluid level is verified. Short of that, I'd have to break out the ole manual on that transmission. Ok....I was curious, so I dug out the book. I would say the good news is that you don't have belt or ratio controller issues. Failed solenoid?
